Asymmetrical Raglan Sweater

How to knit the asymmetrical raglan sweater:
Sizes: US 6–8 (10–12) 14–16 = UK 10–12 (14–16) 18–20.
Materials:
700 (750) 800 g yarn (100 percent cotton, length = 63 m per 50 g); knitting needles and a circular needle size 4.5 mm (US size 7).
Ribbing Pattern in rows: Odd number of stitches.
Wrong-side row: edge stitch, *work 1 purl stitch, work 1 knit stitch*, repeat from *, end with 1 purl stitch, edge stitch.
Right-side row: work the stitches as they appear.
Ribbing Pattern in rounds: Even number of stitches. *Work 1 knit stitch, work 1 purl stitch* continuously.
Stockinette Stitch:
On right-side rows work knit stitches, on wrong-side rows work purl stitches.
Large Seed Stitch:
Row 1 (right side): *work 1 knit stitch, work 1 purl stitch*, repeat, end with 1 knit stitch.
Rows 2 and 4: work the stitches as they appear.
Row 3: *work 1 purl stitch, work 1 knit stitch*, repeat, end with 1 purl stitch.
Repeat rows 1–4 throughout.
Lace Pattern (over 33 stitches):
Work according to the chart. The chart shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows work the stitches as they appear and purl the yarn overs.
Work rows 1–16 once, then repeat rows 9–16 continuously.

Emphasized decreases:
At the beginning of the row: edge stitch, work 2 stitches in stockinette, work 2 stitches together knitwise, and on the following wrong-side row work the resulting stitch in pattern as knit or purl.
At the end of the row: work to the last 5 stitches, work 2 stitches together knitwise, then on the next wrong-side row work the resulting stitch in pattern as knit or purl, work 2 stitches in stockinette, edge stitch.

Gauge:
In large seed stitch with stockinette: 16 stitches and 23.5 rows = 10 × 10 cm.
In lace pattern: 17.5 stitches and 23.5 rows = 10 × 10 cm; 33 stitches = 19 cm width.

Note:
For the asymmetrical shape work the back and front with opposite side shapings.
The back will fold slightly forward at the lower edge.
The back is 2.5 cm = 6 rows longer to the raglan shaping, or 4.5 cm = 10 rows longer in total compared to the front.

Back:
Cast on 99 (105) 113 stitches and work 3 cm = 7 rows in the ribbing pattern, beginning with a wrong-side row.
Continue as follows: edge stitch, 2 stitches in stockinette, 93 (99) 107 stitches in large seed stitch, 2 stitches in stockinette, edge stitch.
At the same time shape the sides: beginning from the ribbing decrease 1 stitch on each side 9 times in every 8th row; to do so work 2 stitches together in pattern after or before the stockinette stitches = 81 (87) 95 stitches.
For the raglan shaping after 35.5 cm = 84 rows from the ribbing decrease 1 stitch on each side once, then 22 (25) 28 times in every 2nd row.
After 55.5 cm = 130 rows (58 cm = 136 rows) 60.5 cm = 142 rows from the ribbing place the remaining 35 (35) 37 stitches on hold for the neck.

Front:
Cast on 55 (61) 69 stitches and work 3 cm = 7 rows in the ribbing pattern, beginning with a wrong-side row.
Continue as follows: edge stitch, 2 stitches in stockinette, 8 (11) 15 stitches in large seed stitch, 33 stitches in lace pattern, 8 (11) 15 stitches in large seed stitch, 2 stitches in stockinette, edge stitch.
At the same time shape the sides: beginning from the ribbing increase 1 stitch on each side 11 times in every 6th row; to do so work 1 lifted knit or lifted purl stitch from the horizontal strand and incorporate it into the seed stitch pattern = 77 (83) 91 stitches.
For the raglan shaping after 33 cm = 78 rows from the ribbing decrease 1 stitch on each side once, then 20 (23) 26 times in every 2nd row.
After 51 cm = 120 rows (53.5 cm = 126 rows) 56 cm = 132 rows from the ribbing bind off the remaining 35 (35) 37 stitches for the neck.

Left sleeve:
Cast on 39 (41) 43 stitches and work 3 cm = 7 rows in the ribbing pattern, beginning with a wrong-side row.
Continue in large seed stitch.
At the same time shape the sleeve: beginning from the ribbing increase 1 stitch on each side 5 times in every 8th row and 6 times in every 6th row (9 times in every 6th row and 4 times in every 4th row) 2 times in every 6th row and 13 times in every 4th row = 61 (67) 73 stitches.
For the raglan shaping after 34 cm = 80 rows (31.5 cm = 74 rows) 29 cm = 68 rows from the ribbing decrease 1 stitch on each side once, then decrease at the right edge 22 (25) 28 times in every 2nd row and at the left edge 20 (23) 26 times in every 2nd row.
At the same time after 52 cm = 122 rows from the ribbing for the neck bind off 5 stitches once at the left edge and 6 stitches once in the following 2nd row.
After 54 cm = 126 rows from the ribbing bind off the remaining 6 stitches; they belong to the neck shaping.

Right sleeve: Work as mirror image.

Finishing:
Sew the raglan seams, the side seams and the sleeve seams; the front ends 0.5 cm before the end of the back ribbing.
Using the circular needle pick up the held stitches of the back and pick up 73 (73) 75 stitches along the neckline edges of the sleeves and the front.
Work the neckband over all 108 (108) 110 stitches in the ribbing pattern in rounds.
After 4 cm of neckband height bind off all stitches as they appear.
