Diamond and Cable Stitch Sweater

How to work the sweater with diamond and cable stitch pattern:
Sizes: US 6–8 (US 10–12 / US 14–16)
Bust circumference: approx. 86–94 (96–104 / 106–114) cm (34–37 (38–41 / 42–45) inches)
Material:
750 (850 / 950) g yarn (100% very soft wool, 125 m/50 g); straight knitting needles 4 mm (US 6); two cable needles; short circular knitting needles 3.5 mm (US 4).
Ribbing Pattern, needles 3.5 mm (US 4) (pattern width 7 stitches):
Row 1: * 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch through the back loop, 1 purl stitch, 4 knit stitches;
Rows 2 and 4: work the stitches as they appear; work twisted stitches as twisted purl stitches, when working in the round as twisted knit stitches;
Row 3: * 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch through the back loop, 1 purl stitch, cross 4 stitches to the right (= slip 2 stitches to a cable needle and hold to the back, knit 2 stitches, then knit the stitches from the cable needle).
Repeat from * throughout and repeat rows 1 to 4 throughout.
Work all following patterns with 4 mm (US 6) needles.
Stockinette stitch: right-side rows knit stitches, wrong-side rows purl stitches.
Reverse stockinette stitch: right-side rows purl stitches, wrong-side rows knit stitches.
Checkerboard Pattern (pattern width 4 stitches):
Rows 1 to 4: alternate 2 stitches stockinette stitch, 2 stitches reverse stockinette stitch;
Rows 5 to 8: alternate 2 stitches reverse stockinette stitch, 2 stitches stockinette stitch.
Repeat rows 1 to 8 throughout.
Pattern 1 (pattern width 16 stitches):
Work according to the chart; only right-side rows are shown.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Repeat the pattern stitches and rows 1 to 10 throughout.
Pattern 2 (pattern width 27 stitches):
Work according to the chart; only right-side rows are shown.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Repeat rows 1 to 28 throughout.
Average gauge: 27 stitches and 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches).

Back:
Cast on 152 (164 / 178) stitches and work between edge stitches as follows: 14 (20 / 27) stitches Checkerboard Pattern, 10 stitches Ribbing Pattern, 27 stitches Pattern 2, 48 stitches Pattern 1, 27 stitches Pattern 2, 10 stitches Checkerboard Pattern, 14 (20 / 27) stitches Checkerboard Pattern.
At a height of 65 cm (25.6 inches), bind off the center 34 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
At the neckline edge, bind off 5 stitches twice in every second row.
At a height of 67 cm (26.4 inches), bind off the remaining stitches.
Front:
Work as for the back, but with a deeper neckline.
After 59 cm (23.2 inches), bind off the center 20 stitches and finish both sides separately.
At the neckline edge, bind off 4 stitches once, 3 stitches once and 1 stitch five times in every second row.
After 8 cm (3.1 inches) from the beginning of the neckline shaping, bind off the remaining stitches.
Sleeves:
Cast on 61 (65 / 71) stitches and work between edge stitches as follows: 6 (8 / 11) stitches Checkerboard Pattern, 10 stitches Ribbing Pattern, 27 stitches Pattern 2, 10 stitches Ribbing Pattern, 6 (8 / 11) stitches Checkerboard Pattern.
For the sleeve shaping, increase on both sides 38 (38 / 32) times 1 stitch in every third row and 6 (6 / 12) times 1 stitch in every second row, working the increased stitches into the pattern.
At a height of 39 (39 / 37) cm (15.4 (15.4 / 14.6) inches), bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Work the shoulder seams.
Pick up 105 stitches around the neckline with circular needles and work 6 cm (2.4 inches) in Ribbing Pattern.
Bind off the stitches following the pattern, fold the band to the inside and sew it in place.
Set in the sleeves, matching the center to the shoulder seam.
