Diamond Lace Pattern Sweater
How to knit the Diamond Pattern Sweater:
Sizes: UK 12–14 (8–10) (16–18) / US 8–10 (4–6) (12–14)
Materials:
550 (550) (600) g yarn (86% cotton, 14% polyamide, length = 110 m/50 g / 120 yds/1.75 oz), knitting needles size 4 mm and 4.5 mm (US 6 and 7), crochet hook size 4 mm (US G/6).
Garter Stitch: knit stitches on right-side and wrong-side rows.
Diamond Pattern:
Work according to chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs or as indicated.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and the stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with the stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Gauge: 20 stitches and 28 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in).
Front:
Cast on 119 (106) (132) stitches with 4 mm needles and first work 1 wrong-side row knit stitches.
Then arrange the stitches as follows: 1 edge stitch, repeat stitches 1 to 13 of the chart 9 (8) (10) times, 1 edge stitch.
In this arrangement, first work rows 1 and 2 twice.
Then change to 4.5 mm needles and repeat rows 3 and 4 throughout.
After 30 cm (11.8 in) from the cast-on, continue with the diamond pattern and repeat rows 3 to 24 throughout.
For the neckline, at a total height of 60 cm (23.6 in), bind off the middle 13 (13) (15) stitches and on both sides in every 2nd row bind off 4 stitches once, 3 stitches once, 2 stitches once and 1 stitch once.
After 66 cm (26 in) from the cast-on, bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.
Back:
Work as the front, but with a higher neckline.
For this, after 64 cm (25.2 in) from the cast-on, bind off the middle 19 (19) (21) stitches and on both sides in every 2nd row bind off 5 stitches once and 2 stitches once.
Sleeves:
Cast on 54 stitches with 4 mm needles and first work 1 wrong-side row knit stitches.
Then arrange the stitches as follows: 1 edge stitch, repeat stitches 1 to 13 of the chart 4 times, 1 edge stitch.
In this arrangement, work rows 1 and 2 twice.
Then change to 4.5 mm needles and repeat rows 3 and 4 throughout.
At the same time, for the sleeve shaping, starting from row 5, increase on both sides in every 4th row 26 times 1 stitch according to pattern = 106 stitches.
After 44 (44) (42) cm (17.3 (17.3) (16.5) in) from the cast-on, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.
Fold the sleeves in half and sew in.
Sew remaining seams.
Crochet the neckline with 1 round single crochet stitches and 1 round reverse single crochet stitches (work single crochet from left to right).
