Fantasy Diamond Pattern Sweater
How to knit the Fantasy Diamond Pattern Sweater:
Size: UK 12/14, US 8/10.
Materials:
500 g of yarn (46% acrylic, 35% polyester, 225 m/100 g); knitting needles size 4.5 mm (US 7, UK 7).
Fantasy Ribbing Pattern: the number of stitches is a multiple of 4 + 3 + 2 edge stitches.
Row 1: edge stitch, *purl 1, knit 1, purl 2*, repeat from * to *; end with purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, edge stitch.
Row 2: edge stitch, purl 3, *knit 1, purl 3*, repeat from * to *; end with edge stitch.
Repeat these 2 rows throughout.
Fantasy Diamond Pattern: the number of stitches is a multiple of 16 + 1 + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to the chart showing only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear and purl the yarn overs.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and 8 stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern, end with 9 stitches after the repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Repeat rows 1–28 throughout.
Gauge: 18 stitches and 22 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in).
Back:
Cast on 99 stitches and work in Fantasy Ribbing Pattern.
After 4 cm (1½ in) from the cast-on edge, continue in Fantasy Diamond Pattern.
After 45 cm (17¾ in) from the cast-on edge, for the armholes, bind off 3 stitches at each side once.
After 54 cm (21¼ in) from the cast-on edge, continue in Fantasy Ribbing Pattern.
After 62 cm (24½ in) from the cast-on edge, for the shoulder shaping, bind off 6 stitches at each side twice in every 2nd row.
Then bind off all remaining stitches.
Front: Work the same as for the back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 47 stitches and work 5 cm (2 in) in Fantasy Ribbing Pattern.
Continue in Fantasy Diamond Pattern, and for sleeve shaping increase 1 stitch at each side in every 8th row 10 times.
After 50 cm (19¾ in) from the cast-on edge, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder and side seams.
Sew the sleeve seams and set in the sleeves.
