How to knit the Lace Vest:
Sizes: US 10, UK 14, EU 40.
Materials:
400 grams of yarn (100 percent acrylic, 328 yards / 3.53 ounces), US 2.5 (3.0 millimeters) circular knitting needles, US steel crochet hook 4 (2.0 millimeters).
Fantasy Stitch Pattern:
Work according to the chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear and purl the yarn overs.
Repeat Rows 1 through 20 throughout.
Back:
Cast on 168 stitches and work in the Fantasy Stitch Pattern.
When the piece measures 20.5 inches (52 centimeters) from the cast-on edge, shape the armholes by binding off at both sides at the beginning of every right-side row 4 stitches once, 2 stitches twice, and 1 stitch three times.
When the piece measures 29.25 inches (74 centimeters) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 23 stitches for the neckline and complete each side separately.
To shape the neckline, bind off at the neck edge on every right-side row 4 stitches once, 2 stitches twice, and 1 stitch twice.
When the piece measures 30.75 inches (78 centimeters) from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining stitches.
Right Front:
Cast on 84 stitches and work in the Fantasy Stitch Pattern.
When the piece measures 20.5 inches (52 centimeters) from the cast-on edge, shape the armhole by binding off at the end of every right-side row 4 stitches once, 2 stitches twice, and 1 stitch three times.
At the same time, shape the neckline by binding off 1 stitch at the beginning of every right-side row 20 times.
When the piece measures 29.25 inches (74 centimeters) from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining stitches.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder and side seams.
Work 3 rows of single crochet along the outer edges of the front pieces, the neckline, and the armholes, then work 1 row of reverse single crochet.
