Kimono Sweater

How to knit the Kimono Sweater:
Size: US 8–10 / UK 12–14 (EU 38).
Material:
350 g yarn (60% royal mohair, 40% acrylic, 150 m per 50 g); straight knitting needles US 8 and US 10 (5 mm and 6 mm).

Tubular Ribbing:
With a contrast yarn cast on half the required number of stitches.
Row 1: With the working yarn * work 1 knit stitch, work 1 yarn over *, repeat from * to *.
Row 2: * Work the yarn over as a knit stitch, slip 1 stitch as if to purl with yarn in front *, repeat from * to *.
Row 3 and last row: * Work 1 knit stitch, slip 1 stitch as if to purl with yarn in front *, repeat from * to *.
Remove the contrast yarn after finishing the piece.
Ribbing Pattern 1/1: Work * 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch *.
Ribbing Pattern 3/3: Work * 3 knit stitches, 3 purl stitches *.
Main Pattern (even number of stitches):
Row 1: Work all stitches in purl.
Row 2: * Work 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch *, repeat from * to *.
Row 3: Repeat the pattern from Row 1.
Left Cable (width 9 stitches):
Rows 1, 3 and 5: Work 6 knit stitches, 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.
Row 2 and all even rows: Work the stitches as they appear.
Row 7: Cross 6 stitches to the left (place 3 stitches on a cable needle in front of the work, work 3 knit stitches, then work the stitches from the cable needle as knit), then work 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.
Row 9: Repeat the pattern from Row 3.
Double Cable (width 18 stitches):
Rows 1, 3 and 5: Work 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch, 12 knit stitches, 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.
Row 2 and all even rows: Work the stitches as they appear.
Row 7: Work 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch, cross 6 stitches to the right (place 3 stitches on a cable needle behind the work, work 3 knit stitches, then work the stitches from the cable needle as knit), cross 6 stitches to the left, then work 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.
Row 9: Repeat the pattern from Row 3.

Gauge in the Main Pattern: 16 stitches and 20 rows = 10 × 10 cm.

Back (worked in one piece starting from the left sleeve):
With needle US 8 (5 mm) cast on 37 stitches. Work 4 rows in the Tubular Ribbing followed by 10 rows in Ribbing Pattern 3/3.
Switch to needle US 10 (6 mm) and work as follows: Work 3 knit stitches, 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch, work 31 stitches in the Main Pattern; at the same time increase 1 stitch on the right side every 4th row 12 times, and increase 1 stitch on the left side every 6th row 13 times.
In Row 16 from the ribbing work the first left cable crossing over the first 6 knit stitches after the 1 purl stitch.
In Row 47 from the ribbing work the first right cable crossing for the double cable over the following 6 stitches.
After 55 rows cast on 40 new stitches at the beginning of the row and continue as follows: Work 3 stitches in the Tubular Ribbing, 22 stitches in Ribbing Pattern 1/1, 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch, 12 knit stitches (crossed regularly for the double cable), 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch, 12 knit stitches (crossed regularly), 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch, then work the rest of the row in the Main Pattern.
Beginning from Row 121 decrease 1 stitch on the left side every 6th row 13 times.
After 67 cm from the ribbing bind off the first 40 stitches and decrease 1 stitch on the right side every 4th row 12 times.
After 94 cm from the ribbing switch to needle US 8 (5 mm), work 10 rows in Ribbing Pattern 3/3 and 4 rows in the Tubular Ribbing, then bind off all stitches using a sewn bind-off.
Front:
Work as for the back but start from the right sleeve.
Beginning from Row 77 decrease 1 stitch on the left side every 2nd row 6 times for the neckline, and beginning from Row 111 increase 1 stitch on the left side every 2nd row 6 times.

Finishing:
Join the front and back, sew the upper and lower sleeve seams and the side seams.
For the collar cast on 39 stitches with needle US 8 (5 mm) and work 3 stitches in the Tubular Ribbing and 36 stitches in Ribbing Pattern 1/1.
After 44 cm bind off all stitches.
Sew the bound-off edge to the cast-on edge, sew the collar into a ring, and attach it to the neckline with the Tubular Ribbing facing outward.
