Knitting Set: Jacket und Top in stockinette and reverse stockinette

How to knit the Set in stockinette and reverse stockinette:
Sizes: US sizes: 2–4, 6–8, 10–12/ UK sizes: 6–8, 10–12, 14–16

Materials:
200/250/300 g of melange main yarn (50% wool, 45% acrylic, 5% viscose, 120 m per 50 g), 100/100/150 g of bulky yarn (50% wool, 45% acrylic, 5% viscose, 30 m per 50 g), knitting needles 4.5 mm (US 7 / UK 7) and 10 mm (US 15 / UK 000), circular needle 10 mm.

Stockinette stitch: Right-side rows: work knit stitches, wrong-side rows: work purl stitches.
Reverse stockinette stitch: Right-side rows: work purl stitches, wrong-side rows: work knit stitches.

Gauge:
Needles 4.5 mm: 18 stitches and 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Needles 10 mm: 9 stitches and 14 rows = 10 x 10 cm.


TOP
Back:
With needles 4.5 mm cast on 90 (104) 118 stitches, work the first wrong-side row in purl, then work 11 rows in stockinette stitch.
Then place the stitches of the lower edge onto a spare needle, fold the piece with wrong sides together and work 1 knit stitch from the front needle together with 1 stitch from the back needle.
Continue working in reverse stockinette stitch.
After 18 cm, shape the waist: decrease 1 stitch at each side once, then decrease 1 stitch at each side four times every 16th row = 80 (94) 108 stitches.
After 53 (51) 49 cm, for the armholes: bind off 3 (4) 5 stitches at each side once, then decrease 1 stitch at each side three (three) four times in every second row = 68 (80) 90 stitches.
Then continue with needles 10 mm and bulky yarn.
In the first row work the edge stitch, then work 2 purl stitches together to the end of the row, edge stitch = 35 (41) 46 stitches.
After 68 cm, place the central 15 (15) 16 stitches on a spare needle for the neckline and work both sides separately.
At the inner edge bind off 1 stitch three times, each in every second row.
After 72 cm, shape the shoulders: bind off 3 stitches once and 4 (two times 5) two times 6 stitches once in every second row.
Front:
Work as for the back, but with a deeper neckline.
After 64 cm place the central 9 (9) 10 stitches on a spare needle and continue both sides separately.
At the inner edge bind off 2 stitches once and 1 stitch four times, each in every second row.
After 72 cm shape the shoulders in the same way as for the back.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
For the armholes, with needles 10 mm and bulky yarn pick up 46 (50) 54 stitches along each armhole edge, then bind off all stitches immediately.
Sew the side seams.
For the neckline, transfer the stitches from the spare needle and pick up 18 stitches on each side between them, a total of 60 (60/62) stitches.
Work 1 round in knit stitches and bind off all stitches as knit stitches.

JACKET
Materials:
500/600/650 g of bulky yarn (50% wool, 45% acrylic, 5% viscose, 30 m per 50 g), 200/250/250 g of main yarn (50% wool, 45% acrylic, 5% viscose, 120 m per 50 g), knitting needles 4.5 mm (US 7 / UK 7) and 10 mm (US 15 / UK 000).

Note:
On every first row worked with the main yarn, after the edge stitch work alternately 1 knit stitch and 1 yarn over; on the wrong side work the yarn overs as purl stitches.
This doubles the number of stitches between the edge stitches.
On every first round worked with the bulky yarn, after the edge stitch work all stitches as 2 knit stitches together to the end of the round until the original number of stitches is reached.

Gauge:
Stockinette stitch, needles 4.5 mm: 18 stitches and 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Stockinette stitch, needles 10 mm: 9 stitches and 14 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

The jacket is knitted sideways in one piece.

With a contrast thread and needles 10 mm cast on 55 stitches.
Then work 20 rows in stockinette stitch with the bulky yarn,
followed by 32 (38) 42 rows with the main yarn (= 108 stitches),
20 rows with the bulky yarn,
32 (36) 38 rows with the main yarn,
28 (30) 34 rows with the bulky yarn (= center of the back),
32 (36) 38 rows with the main yarn,
20 rows with the bulky yarn,
32 (38) 42 rows with the main yarn,
and 20 rows with the bulky yarn.
At the same time, after 47 (49) 51 cm, after 16 rows in the main yarn,
work from the right edge:
work 32 stitches in pattern,
then work 32 (36) 40 stitches in pattern and place these stitches on a spare needle,
continue working the remaining 44 (40) 36 stitches in pattern, then place all stitches onto a spare needle.
With needles 4.5 mm and a contrast thread cast on 44 (40) 36 stitches,
then continue working all stitches of the jacket and, in the first wrong-side row, replace the stitches held on the spare needle with the newly cast-on stitches.
After 81 (87) 93 cm, after 16 (20) 22 rows in the main yarn, work the second armhole opening in the same way.
After 128 (136) 144 cm = 236 (258) 274 rows, bind off all stitches.
Sleeve:
With needles 10 mm and a contrast thread cast on 38 (42) 46 stitches.
Work 30 rows in stockinette stitch with the bulky yarn and at the same time decrease 1 stitch at each side in every 14th row twice = 34 (38) 42 stitches.
Then work 32 rows with the main yarn, 28 rows with the bulky yarn, and 6 rows with the main yarn.
Place all stitches on a spare needle; total height = 57 cm.
Remove the contrast thread, pick up the stitches again and bind off all stitches as knit stitches.
Finishing:
Sew the sleeves into the armholes.
