Materials:
750 (800/850) g yarn (100% cotton; 109 yds/50 g); US 2.5 and US 6 knitting needles; US 2.5 circular needle, 16 inches (40 cm) long.

Ribbing Pattern, US 2.5 needles: work alternately 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.

Lace Cable Pattern (Main Pattern), US 6 needles:
Work according to chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work stitches as they appear; purl the yarn overs.
Repeat Rows 1–8 throughout.

Gauge: 26 stitches x 32 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm).

Back:
Cast on 104 (114/126) stitches and work 2 inches (5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 34 (36/40) stitches evenly across the last row = 138 (150/166) stitches.
Continue in Main Pattern as follows: edge stitch (edge stitch, 36th to 41st stitch of pattern repeat/edge stitch, 28th to 41st stitch of pattern repeat), 3 pattern repeats, 1st to 13th (1st to 19th/1st to 27th) stitch of pattern repeat, edge stitch.
At 25¼ (26/26¾) inches [64 (66/68) cm] from the beginning, for neck shaping bind off the center 32 stitches and on both sides bind off 3 stitches twice on every 2nd row.
At 26 (26¾/27½) inches [66 (68/70) cm] from the beginning, bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.

Front:
Work as for Back, but with a deeper neckline.
At 21¾ (22½/23¼) inches [55 (57/59) cm] from the beginning, bind off the center 16 stitches and on both sides bind off 3 stitches twice, 2 stitches twice and 1 stitch 4 times on every 2nd row.
At 26 (26¾/27½) inches [66 (68/70) cm] from the beginning, bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.

Sleeves:
Cast on 48 (50/54) stitches and work 2 inches (5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 22 (24/26) stitches evenly across the last row = 70 (74/80) stitches.
Continue in Main Pattern as follows: edge stitch, 35th to 41st stitch of pattern repeat (33rd to 41st/30th to 41st stitch of pattern repeat), 1 pattern repeat, 1st to 20th stitch of pattern repeat (1st to 22nd/1st to 25th stitch of pattern repeat), edge stitch.
For sleeve shaping increase 1 stitch at each side on every 4th row 31 times (22 times/16 times), then for sizes US 10/12 and US 16/18 alternately on every 2nd and 4th row increase 1 stitch 12 more times (20 more times) = 132 (142/152) stitches.
At 17¾ inches (45 cm) from the beginning, bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Sew shoulder and side seams, then set in sleeves.
Using the circular needle, pick up 120 stitches around the neckline, work 1 inch (2.5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern and bind off all stitches in pattern.
