How to knit a Lace Cardigan:
Size: US 8 / UK 12.
Materials:
600 g of yarn (74% acrylic, 26% polyester; 160 m / 100 g). Knitting needles size 6 mm (US 10 / UK 4). 5 buttons, each 2 cm in diameter.
Ribbing: 1 knit stitch, * 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch *, repeat from * to *.
Lace Pattern:
Work according to the chart, which shows only the right-side rows.
On the wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and the 6 stitches before the repeat, repeat the stitch pattern continuously, and end with the 7 stitches after the repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 1-10 throughout.
Gauge: 15 stitches x 18 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Back:
Cast on 78 stitches and work 8 cm in ribbing for the lower band.
Continue in the lace pattern.
When the piece measures 60 cm from the beginning, bind off all stitches.
Right Front:
Cast on 39 stitches and work 8 cm in ribbing for the lower band.
Then continue as follows: 13 stitches in ribbing and 26 stitches in the lace pattern according to the chart.
At the same time, work 5 buttonholes, placed 6 stitches in from the right edge (bind off 2 stitches and cast them on again in the following row).
Work the first buttonhole after 8 cm from the beginning, then the remaining ones every 8 cm.
When the piece measures 60 cm from the beginning, bind off all stitches.
Left Front:
Work as for the right front, but without the buttonholes.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams, leaving 8 cm open at the center back for the neckline.
Sleeves:
Pick up 32 stitches along each side of the shoulder seam and 1 stitch directly from the seam (65 stitches total).
Work in the lace pattern.
After 35 cm from the beginning, continue in ribbing.
When the sleeve measures 45 cm from the beginning, bind off all stitches.
Sew the side and sleeve seams.
Sew the buttons onto the left front to match the buttonholes on the right front.
