Lace Pattern Sweater Knitting
How to knit the Lace Pattern Sweater:
Sizes: UK 8-10 (16-18/20-22) / US 4-6 (12-14/16-18).
Materials:
600 (650/700) g yarn (100% cotton, 115 m/50 g ≈ 126 yd/1.76 oz). Needles: 3.5 mm (US 4); circular needles 3.5 mm (US 4), 40 cm / 16 inches long.
Ribbing Pattern: *1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch*, repeat throughout.
Lace Pattern (main pattern):
Work according to the chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, or as indicated.
Work rows 1 to 58 once, then repeat rows 35 to 58 throughout.
Gauge: 23 stitches x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches).
Back:
Cast on 129 (145/161) stitches and work 1 wrong-side row knit.
Continue in the main pattern as follows: 1 edge stitch, first stitches of the chart, 7 (8/9) pattern repeats, last stitches of the chart, 1 edge stitch.
At a height of 62 (64/66) cm / 24.5 (25/26) inches for the neckline, bind off the middle 31 stitches, then on both sides bind off in every 2nd row once 5 stitches and once 2 stitches.
At the same time, for the shoulder shaping, bind off in every 2nd row 2 times 10 stitches and 2 times 11 stitches (2 times 12 stitches and 2 times 13 stitches / 2 times 14 stitches and 2 times 15 stitches).
Front:
Work as for the back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this, at a height of 52 (54/56) cm / 20.5 (21.25/22) inches bind off the middle 11 stitches, then on both sides bind off in every 2nd row once 4 stitches, once 3 stitches, 2 times 2 stitches and 2 times 1 stitch, then in every 4th row 4 more times 1 stitch.
At a height of 62 (64/66) cm / 24.5 (25/26) inches work the shoulder shaping as for the back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 51 stitches and work 1 wrong-side row knit.
Continue in the main pattern as follows: 1 edge stitch, 3 pattern repeats, first stitch of the pattern repeat, 1 edge stitch.
For shaping, increase on both sides in every 4th row 14 times 1 stitch (8 times 1 stitch / 2 times 1 stitch), then alternately in every 2nd and 4th row 22 times 1 stitch (30 times 1 stitch / 38 times 1 stitch) = 123 (127/131) stitches.
At a height of 42 cm / 16.5 inches bind off all stitches.
Work the second sleeve in the same way.
Finishing:
Work all seams and set in the sleeves.
Pick up 124 stitches along the neckline with circular needles and work 4 rows in Ribbing Pattern and 5 cm / 2 inches in knit stitches, then bind off all stitches.
