Lace Raglan Sweater
How to knit Lace Raglan Sweater:
Sizes: EU 38/40 (44/46), US 6/8 (12/14), UK 10/12 (16/18)
Materials:
500 (550) g yarn (100% cotton, 110 m/50 g; approx. 1,100 (1,210) m total / 1,203 (1,323) yds total); straight needles size 3.5 mm (US 4) and circular needles size 3 mm (US 2½) and 3.5 mm (US 4).
Ribbing Pattern: * purl 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches, purl 1 stitch, repeat from *.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Lace Pattern: number of stitches multiple of 18 + 1 + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to the chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
Begin with 1 edge stitch, repeat the pattern repeat, end with the stitch after the repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Repeat rows 1–22.
Gauge: 23 stitches and 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).
Back:
Cast on 110 (128) stitches and work 2 cm (¾ in) in Ribbing Pattern; for the second size begin and end with 2 purl stitches; in the last row increase 1 stitch = 111 (129) stitches.
Continue in Lace Pattern.
For raglan shaping, after 36.5 cm = 110 rows (41.5 cm = 124 rows / 14¼ in = 110 rows (16¼ in = 124 rows)) from ribbing, bind off 2 stitches at each side, then decrease 1 stitch at each side 19 (23) times in every 2nd row.
After 49.5 cm = 148 rows (56.5 cm = 170 rows / 19½ in = 148 rows (22¼ in = 170 rows)) from ribbing, leave the remaining 69 (79) stitches unworked.
Front: work as for Back.
Sleeve:
Cast on 54 (66) stitches and work 8 cm (3¼ in) in Ribbing Pattern; in the last wrong-side row increase 3 (9) stitches evenly = 57 (75) stitches.
Continue in Lace Pattern, beginning with row 1 (15).
For sleeve shaping, after ribbing increase 1 stitch at each side 13 times in every 6th row and 5 times in every 4th row, working the new stitches into pattern = 93 (111) stitches.
After 36.5 cm = 110 rows (14¼ in = 110 rows) from ribbing, work raglan shaping as for Back.
After 49.5 cm = 148 rows (51.5 cm = 156 rows / 19½ in = 148 rows (20¼ in = 156 rows)) from ribbing, leave the remaining 51 (61) stitches unworked.
Finishing:
Slip the open 240 (280) stitches one after another onto circular needles size 3.5 mm (US 4) and work in Ribbing Pattern, decreasing 40 (60) stitches evenly in the first round = 200 (220) stitches.
After 4 cm (1½ in) change to needles size 3 mm (US 2½).
After 8 cm (3¼ in) bind off all stitches in pattern.
Sew all seams.
