Work Rows 1–30 once, then repeat Rows 13 and 14 a total of 25 (27) 29 times, work Rows 21–30 once, then continue repeating Rows 13–30.
Gauge: 21.5 stitches and 25.5 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm).
Back:
Using US 6 knitting needles, cast on 111 (123) 135 stitches and work 1 wrong-side row in knit stitches.
Then change to US 7 knitting needles and work in the Lace Pattern.
When the piece measures 14¾ inches / 37.5 cm from the cast-on edge (= 96 rows), shape the armholes by binding off at both sides on every other row 4 stitches once, 3 stitches once, 2 stitches once and 1 stitch 3 times = 87 (99) 111 stitches.
When the piece measures 23¼ inches / 59 cm (= 150 rows) (23¾ inches / 60.5 cm = 154 rows) 24½ inches / 62 cm (= 158 rows), shape the shoulders by binding off at both sides 7 (8) 9 stitches once, then on every other row bind off 6 (7) 8 stitches 3 times.
At the same time as the first shoulder bind-off, bind off the center 27 (31) 35 stitches for the neck opening and finish each side separately.
For neck shaping, bind off at the neck edge on every other row 3 stitches once and 2 stitches once.
When the piece measures 24 inches / 61 cm (= 156 rows) (24½ inches / 62.5 cm = 160 rows) 25¼ inches / 64 cm (= 164 rows), all stitches should be bound off.
Front:
Work as for the Back, but with a deeper neck opening.
For this, when the piece measures 21¾ inches / 55 cm (= 140 rows) (22¼ inches / 56.5 cm = 144 rows) 22¾ inches / 58 cm (= 148 rows), bind off the center 19 (23) 27 stitches, then on every other row bind off 2 stitches twice and 1 stitch 5 times.
Sleeves:
Using US 6 knitting needles, cast on 39 (39) 51 stitches and work 1 wrong-side row in knit stitches.
Then change to US 7 knitting needles and work in the Lace Pattern, working Rows 1–30 once, then repeating Rows 13 and 14 throughout.
At the same time, shape the sleeves by increasing at both sides from the cast-on edge on every 6th row 4 times and on every 4th row 17 times (on every 4th row 22 times and on every 2nd row 3 times) on every 6th row 2 times and on every 4th row 20 times 1 stitch each time = 81 (89) 95 stitches, incorporating the increased stitches into the pattern.
When the piece measures 14¾ inches / 37.5 cm (= 96 rows), shape the sleeve cap by binding off at both sides on every other row 4 (5) 6 stitches once, 3 (4) 5 stitches once, 2 stitches once, 1 stitch 7 times, 2 stitches 3 times, 3 (4) 5 stitches once and 4 (5) 5 stitches once.
When the piece measures 19½ inches / 49.5 cm (= 126 rows), bind off the remaining 23 stitches.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
Using the circular needle, pick up 87 (95) 103 stitches around the neck opening, work ¾ inch / 2 cm in the Ribbing Pattern and bind off all stitches.
Set in the sleeves, then sew the side and sleeve seams.
