Lace Yoke Top

How to knit the Lace Yoke Top:
Sizes: US/UK 8 (10) 12 (14), EU 38 (40) 42 (44)
Finished measurements:
Bust circumference: 37¾ (41) 44 (47¼) inches / 96 (104) 112 (120) centimeters,
Length: 27½ (22¾) 24½ (26) inches / 70 (58) 62 (66) centimeters.
Materials:
11 (11) 12.3 (12.3) ounces / 300 (300) 350 (350) grams of yarn (50% bamboo, 50% cotton, 153 yards per 1.76 ounces / 140 meters per 50 grams), US 1½ (2.5 millimeters) and US 2½ (3 millimeters) knitting needles.

Stockinette Stitch: right-side rows: knit stitches; wrong-side rows: purl stitches.

Garter Stitch: work knit stitches on both right-side and wrong-side rows.

Lace Pattern:
Work according to Charts 1 and 2, which show only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear; purl the yarn overs.

Gauge: 27 stitches in Stockinette Stitch = 4 inches / 10 centimeters.

Back/Front:
Using US 1½ (2.5 millimeters) knitting needles, cast on 140 (149) 162 (173) stitches and work ⅝ inch / 1.5 centimeters in Garter Stitch.
Then change to US 2½ (3 millimeters) knitting needles and work as follows: 1 stitch in Stockinette Stitch (edge stitch), 6 stitches in Lace Pattern according to Chart 1, then work in Stockinette Stitch until 7 stitches remain, work 6 stitches in Lace Pattern according to Chart 1 symmetrically, and 1 stitch in Stockinette Stitch (edge stitch).
When the piece measures 1½ (2⅜) 2 (2¾) inches / 4 (6) 5 (7) centimeters from the cast-on edge, shape the waist by decreasing 1 stitch at each side on the inner edge of the Lace Pattern stitches, working at the beginning of the row: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass the slipped stitch over; at the end of the row: knit 2 stitches together.

Repeat these decreases 6 times every 1¼ (1¼) 1⅜ (1⅜) inches / 3 (3) 3.5 (3.5) centimeters = 126 (135) 148 (159) stitches.
Continue straight for 2 (2⅜) 2⅜ (2⅜) inches / 5 (6) 6 (6) centimeters.
Then increase 1 stitch at each side on the inner edge of the Lace Pattern stitches.
After 2 (2⅜) 2⅜ (2⅜) inches / 5 (6) 6 (6) centimeters, repeat the increases = 130 (139) 152 (163) stitches.
Work straight for 2⅜ (2) 2⅜ (2¾) inches / 6 (5) 6 (7) centimeters.
Then work the edge stitches in Garter Stitch.
For the armholes, work the decreases as follows: at the beginning of the row work the edge stitch, knit 2 stitches, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 2 stitches together, pass the slipped stitch over, then continue in pattern until 5 stitches remain, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 2 stitches together, pass the slipped stitch over, then knit 2 stitches and the edge stitch.
Repeat these decreases on every second row 1 (2) 3 (4) more times.
Then on both sides, on every second row, decrease 1 stitch 5 (4) 3 (2) times (working at the beginning of the row: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass the slipped stitch over; at the end of the row: knit 2 stitches together) = 112 (121) 130 (139) stitches.
Beginning with the next right-side row, work all stitches in Lace Pattern according to Chart 2, repeating the pattern 11 (12) 13 (14) times, while continuing the outermost 7 stitches on each side in the established pattern.
When the armhole measures 8 (8¼) 8¾ (9) inches / 20 (21) 22 (23) centimeters, bind off all stitches in pattern.

Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams, each measuring 3¼ (3¼) 3½ (3½) inches / 8 (8) 9 (9) centimeters.
Sew the side.
