Lace Zigzag Stitch Sweater

How to knit the Lace Zigzag Stitch Sweater:
Sizes: US 10-12 (14-16/18-20), UK 14-16 (18-20/22-24), EU 40-42 (44-46/48-50)
Materials:
750 (800/850) g (26.5 (28.2/30.0) oz) cotton yarn (100% cotton; 110 m/50 g / 120 yd/1.76 oz); US 2 and US 4 knitting needles; US 2 (3 mm) 16 in circular needle.

Ribbing Pattern, US 2 needles: work * knit 1, purl 1; repeat from * throughout.

Stockinette Stitch, US 2 needles: knit on right-side rows, purl on wrong-side rows.

Lace Zigzag Stitch (Main Pattern), US 4 needles:
Work according to the chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.
Repeat Rows 1–32 throughout.

Gauge: 23 stitches and 31 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).

Back:
Cast on 106 (114/124) stitches and work 2.5 in (6 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 26 (28/29) stitches evenly across the last row = 132 (142/153) stitches.
Continue in the Main Pattern as follows:
for US size 10-12: 1 edge stitch, stitches 11–35 of the pattern repeat, 3 full pattern repeats, 1 edge stitch.
for US sizes 14-16 and 18-20: 1 edge stitch, 4 pattern repeats (4 pattern repeats and stitches 1–11 of the pattern repeat), 1 edge stitch.
At 25 (25.25/25.5) in (63 (64/65) cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 36 (36/37) stitches for the neckline, then bind off 3 stitches twice at each side of the neckline on every other row.
At 25.5 (26/26.5) in (65 (66/67) cm), bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.


Front:
Work as for the Back, but with a deeper neckline.
At 21.75 (22/22.5) in (55 (56/57) cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 16 (16/17) stitches, then at each side of the neckline bind off on every other row: 3 stitches twice, 2 stitches twice, and 1 stitch 6 times.
At 25.5 (26/26.5) in (65 (66/67) cm), bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.

Sleeves:
Cast on 50 (54/56) stitches and work 2.5 in (6 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 23 (25/27) stitches evenly across the last row = 73 (79/83) stitches.
Continue in the Main Pattern as follows:
for US sizes 10-12 and 14-16: 1 edge stitch, stitches 6–35 (3–35) of the pattern repeat, 1 full pattern repeat, stitches 1–6 (1–9) of the pattern repeat, 1 edge stitch.
for US size 18-20: 1 edge stitch, 2 pattern repeats and stitches 1–11 of the pattern repeat, 1 edge stitch.
Shape the sleeves by increasing 1 stitch at each side on every 4th row 29 times = 131 (137/141) stitches.
At 17.75 in (45 cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
Using the circular needle, pick up 108 stitches around the neckline, work 5 rounds in Ribbing Pattern, then work 1.5 in (4 cm) in Stocking Stitch.
Sew the side and sleeve seams. Set in the sleeves.
