Long Tunic with Cable Pattern
Knitting instructions for a tunic with fantasy cables:
Size: 8-12 (UK) / 4-8 (US)
Materials:
1000 g of yarn; circular knitting needles No. 3 and No. 4, crochet hook No. 3.
Ribbing (needles No. 3):
Row 1 (right side): * 1 purl, 1 knit twisted, repeat from *.
Row 2 (wrong side): * 1 purl twisted, 1 knit, repeat from *.
Repeat these two rows.
Work all subsequent patterns with needles No. 4.
Reverse stockinette stitch: Purl on right side rows, knit on wrong side rows.
Garter stitch: Knit both right side and wrong side rows.
Cable Pattern:
Work according to the chart, which shows both right side and wrong side rows.
Gauge:
Reverse stockinette stitch: 22 sts and 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Other patterns: 25 sts and 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Front:
Cast on 135 sts and work 3 cm in the following division: 6 sts in Garter stitch, 123 sts in Ribbing, 6 sts in Garter stitch, evenly increasing 10 sts in the last row = 145 sts.
Continue as follows: 6 sts in Garter stitch, 15 sts from arrow A, 5 x pattern repeat, end with 18 sts to arrow B, 6 sts in Garter stitch.
Continue according to the chart, repeating rows 1-6.
At a height of 25 cm, begin working in Reverse stockinette stitch on both sides over the Garter stitch.
At a height of 79 rows from the Ribbing, work rows 13 to 24 once according to the chart over the central cable, then work rows 1 to 12 over all stitches and work rows 13 to 24 once according to the chart over the 3 central cables.
Continue working according to the chart.
At a height of 68 cm, bind off the center 13 sts and on every 2nd row bind off 1 x 4 sts, 1 x 3 sts, 3 x 2 sts, and 2 x 1 st.
At a height of 75 cm, bind off the remaining stitches.
Back:
Work as for the Front, but without the neckline shaping.
Sleeves:
Cast on 47 sts and work 7 cm in Ribbing, evenly increasing 36 sts in the last row = 83 sts.
Continue in the following division: 15 sts in Reverse stockinette stitch, 15 sts from arrow A, 1 x pattern repeat, 18 sts to arrow B, 15 sts in Reverse stockinette stitch.
Continue according to the chart, working rows 1 to 6 ten times.
At the same time, for sleeve slopes, increase 1 st on both sides starting from the Ribbing in every 4th row 23 times and in every 2nd row 2 times in Reverse stockinette stitch = 133 sts.
In the 61st row from the Ribbing, work rows 13 to 24 once over the central cable.
Work all remaining rows as described for the Front.
At a height of 43 cm, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.
Fold sleeves in half and sew them in.
Sew side seams and sleeve seams.
Edging the neckline with a crochet hook, working 2 rounds of single crochet, inserting the hook into the back loop of the stitch each time.
