Openwork Sweater with Cables

How to knit Openwork Sweater with Cables:
Size: US 6 (8/10) 12/ UK 10 (12/14) 16
Material:
Approx. 800 (850) 900 [700 (750) 800] g of yarn (100% cotton, yardage = 115 m/50 g).
Circular knitting needles size 2.5 mm (US 1.5) and size 3 mm (US 2.5).

Rib Pattern with needles size 2.5 mm: Alternately K1, P1.

Work the following patterns with needles size 3 mm.

Stockinette Stitch: On right-side rows, work knit stitches, on wrong-side rows, work purl stitches; in rounds always work knit stitches.
Reverse Stockinette Stitch: On right-side rows, work purl stitches, on wrong-side rows work knit stitches.
Openwork Pattern with Cables over 16 stitches:
Row 1 (right side) and Row 2: Work in Stockinette Stitch.
Row 3: * 1 yo, skp (= slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1 stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted one); 1 knit stitch, k2tog, 1 yo *, repeat from * to *, 6 knit stitches.
Row 4 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): Purl all stitches and yos.

Row 5: * 1 knit stitch, 1 yo, sk2p (= slip 1 stitch knitwise, k2tog, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitches); 1 yo, 1 knit stitch *, repeat from * to *, 6 knit stitches.
Row 9: * 1 knit stitch, 1 yo, sk2p, 1 yo, 1 knit stitch * repeat from * to *, then cross 6 stitches to the left (= leave 3 stitches on an auxiliary needle at the front of the work, knit 3 stitches, then knit the stitches from the auxiliary needle).
Repeat Rows 3–10 throughout.

Triangle to the Right over 15 stitches: Work according to Chart 2.
Triangle to the Left over 15 stitches: Work according to Chart 3.

"V-Cable" Pattern over 41 stitches:
Rows 1–4: 14 stitches Reverse Stockinette Stitch, 13 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 14 stitches Reverse Stockinette Stitch.
Rows 5–32: 3 stitches Reverse Stockinette Stitch, 35 stitches from A to B according to Chart 1, 3 stitches Reverse Stockinette Stitch.
Repeat Rows 3–32 throughout.

Central Pattern over 71 stitches: 15 stitches Triangle to the Right, 41 stitches V-Cable, 15 stitches Triangle to the Left.

Gauge (Pattern Mix): 25 stitches × 34.5 rows = 10 × 10 cm (approx. 4 × 4 inches).

Cast on 114 (120) 128 [104 (110) 118] stitches and work 5 [7] cm (2 [2.75] inches) in Rib Pattern.
In the last row, increase 25 [35] stitches evenly = 139 (145) 153 stitches.
Distribute the stitches as follows: selvage stitch, 9 (10) 12 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 16 stitches Openwork Cable, 8 (10) 12 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 71 stitches Central Pattern, finish as from * to *.
At a height of 63 [55] cm (approx. 24.75 [21.75] inches) from the beginning, bind off the central 19 stitches for the neckline and continue knitting both sides separately.
At the neckline edge, bind off in every 2nd row 2 × 3, 3 × 2, 5 × 1 stitch.
At a height of 70 [62] cm (approx. 27.5 [24.5] inches), bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.
Back:
Work as for the Front, but start the neckline at 67 [59] cm (approx. 26.5 [23.25] inches) of total height.
Bind off the central 41 stitches, then at the neckline edge bind off in every 2nd row 2 × 2 and 2 × 1 stitch.
Sleeves:
Cast on 54 stitches for each sleeve and work 4 cm (approx. 1.5 inches) in Rib Pattern.
In the last row, increase 21 stitches evenly = 75 stitches.
Distribute the stitches: selvage stitch, 1 stitch Stockinette Stitch, 71 stitches Central Pattern, 1 stitch Stockinette Stitch, selvage stitch.
For the sleeve slopes, increase on both sides alternately in every 4th and 5th row 32 × 1 stitch Stockinette Stitch = 139 stitches.
At a height of 46 cm (approx. 18 inches), bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.
Pick up the corresponding number of stitches around the neckline edge, work 4 circular rows in Stockinette Stitch and then 2.5 cm (1 inch) in Rib Pattern, then bind off the stitches.
Fold sleeves in half and sew them in.
Sew the remaining seams.
