How to knit the Oversized Cocoon Cardigan:
Sizes: US 12–16 / UK 16–20 (US 18–22 / UK 22–26)
Material:
500 (550) g yarn (60% royal mohair, 40% polyamide, 200 m/50 g); knitting needles size US 11 (8 mm); circular needles size US 11 (8 mm).
Ribbing Pattern: * 2 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches alternately *.
Stockinette Stitch: right-side rows – knit stitches, wrong-side rows – purl stitches.
Gauge:
Stockinette Stitch with yarn held double: 13 stitches and 16 rows = 4 x 4 in.
Attention! The cardigan is worked in one piece with yarn held double.
Arrows in the schematic drawing indicate the knitting direction.
Fronts and Back:
Cast on 170 (176) stitches and work in Stockinette Stitch.
After 12½ (12 in) = 52 (48) rows from the cast-on edge, mark both sides as the beginning of the armholes, after another 12½ (14 in) = 52 (58) rows mark both sides as the end of the armholes.
After 12½ (12 in) = 52 (48) rows from the second marking, bind off the stitches loosely.
For the sleeves, pick up 46 (50) stitches on each side and work in Ribbing Pattern back and forth, beginning with a wrong-side row and 1 purl stitch, and ending the row before the edge stitch with 1 purl stitch.
At 11½ in sleeve length, bind off the stitches loosely in pattern.
Fold the piece in half.
Sew the sleeve seams and the side seams according to the schematic drawing.
To wear, simply fold the piece in the middle upwards and downwards.
