Materials:
500 (550/600) g yarn (71% viscose, 29% polyamide, 197 yds/1.76 oz); US 4 and US 6 knitting needles (3.5 mm and 4 mm); US 4 short circular needle (3.5 mm).

Garter Stitch: On right-side and wrong-side rows, knit all stitches.

Central Pattern:
Work according to Chart 1, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work all stitches as they appear.
For the cable, work Rows 1–18 once, then repeat Rows 7–18 throughout.
For the diamond motif, repeat Rows 1–18 throughout.

Textured Pattern (over 8 stitches):
Work according to Chart 2, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work all stitches as they appear or as indicated.
Work Rows 1–10 once, then repeat Rows 3–10 throughout.

Gauge:
Textured Pattern: 24.5 stitches and 40 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm);
Central Pattern: 37 stitches = 4.3 in (11 cm).

Back:
Cast on 122 (132/142) stitches and work 1.6 in (4 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, marking the 7th stitch and the 7th stitch from the end of the row.
For waist shaping, beginning at the cast-on edge, decrease 1 stitch at each side 5 times in every 5th row.
To do this, at the beginning of the row knit the 6th and 7th stitches together; at the end of the row work a slip-slip-knit decrease over the 6th and 7th stitches before the end of the row (slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 stitch and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch) = 116 (126/136) stitches.
Continue as follows: 38 (43/48) stitches in Textured Pattern from Arrow A (C/D), on the next 38 stitches decrease 1 stitch = 37 stitches in Central Pattern, 38 (43/48) stitches in Textured Pattern from
Arrow B.
After 1 in (2.5 cm) from the ribbing, increase 1 stitch 11 times in every 8th row = work 1 twisted knit stitch from the horizontal strand before the first marked stitch and after the second marked stitch.
After 10.6 in (27 cm) from the ribbing, for the armholes bind off 3 stitches at each side, then in every 2nd row bind off 1 x 2 stitches and 4 x 1 stitch, then alternately in every 8th and 6th row 10 x 1 stitch.
After 8 (8.3/8.7) in [20 (21/22) cm] from the beginning of the armholes, bind off the center 33 (39/45) stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For neck shaping, bind off 3 stitches twice at the inner edge in every 2nd row.
At the same time, after 8.3 (8.7/9.1) in [21 (22/23) cm] from the beginning of the armholes, for the shoulder slopes bind off 8 (8/10) stitches at each side, then in every 2nd row bind off 2 x 9 (10/10) stitches.
After 19.3 (19.7/20.1) in [49 (50/51) cm] from the beginning of the armholes, all stitches have been bound off.

Front:
Work as for the Back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this, after 17.7 (18.1/18.5) in [45 (46/47) cm] from the beginning of the armholes, bind off the center 23 (29/35) stitches and finish both sides separately.
For neck shaping, bind off in every 2nd row 1 x 5 stitches, 1 x 3 stitches, 1 x 2 stitches and 1 x 1 stitch.
After 1.6 in (4 cm) from the beginning of the neckline, all stitches have been bound off.

Sleeves:
Cast on 92 stitches and work 1.2 in (3 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 3 stitches evenly across the last row.
Continue as follows: 28 stitches in Textured Pattern from Arrow D, 37 stitches in Central Pattern and 28 stitches in Textured Pattern from Arrow D.
At the same time, for sleeve shaping increase at each side 1 stitch 3 times in every 6th row and 7 times in every 4th row (1 stitch 11 times in every 4th row and 1 stitch 2 times in every 2nd row) 1 stitch 9 times in every 4th row and 1 stitch 6 times in every 2nd row, incorporating the increased stitches into the pattern.
After 5.1 in (13 cm) from the ribbing, for the sleeve cap bind off 3 (5/5) stitches at each side, then in every 2nd row bind off 1 x 2 stitches, 4 x 1 stitch, in every 4th row 8 x 1 stitch, in every 2nd row 2 x 4 stitches, 1 x 8 stitches, 3 x 5 stitches and 1 x 3 (4/6) stitches.
After 5.7 in (14.5 cm) from the beginning of the sleeve cap, bind off the remaining stitches.

Finishing:
Join the shoulder seams.
Using the circular needle, pick up 102 (102/108) stitches around the neckline and work 0.8 in (2 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, then bind off all stitches in pattern.
Set in the sleeves, matching the center of each sleeve to the shoulder seam, then join the side seams and sleeve seams.
