Finished Bust: 34/36 (38/40) 42/44 in
Materials:
600 (650) 650 g yarn (100% cotton, 153 yd/50 g); US 1½ (2.5 mm) and US 2½ (3 mm) circular needles, and 4 buttons.

Ribbing Pattern, US 1½ (2.5 mm) needles: work alternately 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.

Lace Pattern, US 2½ (3 mm):
Work according to chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.
Work rows 1–26 once, then repeat rows 23–26 throughout.

Gauge: 28 stitches and 36 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).

Back:
Cast on 142 (156) 170 stitches and work 3.25 in (8 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 1 stitch in the last row = 143 (157) 171 stitches.
Continue in Lace Pattern.
At 12.25 in (31 cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off 6 (7) 8 stitches at each side for armholes, then on every 2nd row bind off 3 stitches once, 2 stitches 1 (2) 2 times, and 1 stitch 3 (2) 4 times = 115 (125) 133 stitches.
At 21.25 in (54 cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 25 (31) 31 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For neckline shaping, bind off from the inside edge on every 2nd row 5 stitches once, 3 stitches once, and 2 stitches once.
At the same time, for shoulder shaping, bind off at each side on every 2nd row 8 (10) 11 stitches once and 9 (9) 10 stitches 3 times = 22 in (56 cm) from the cast-on edge.

Left Front:
Cast on 68 (72) 80 stitches and work 3.25 in (8 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 1 (1) 0 stitches in the last row = 69 (73) 80 stitches.
Continue in Lace Pattern, beginning with 1 edge stitch and 7 stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with 4 (8) 1 stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Work armhole and shoulder shaping at the right edge as for the Back.
At 8.25 in (21 cm) from the cast-on edge, decrease 1 stitch at the left edge 20 times on every 6th row.
For this, knit the 3rd and 2nd stitches from the end together.

Right Front:
Work as for the Left Front, reversing all shaping.
For neckline shaping, work the 2nd and 3rd stitches together with a slip-slip-knit decrease (slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch).

Sleeves:
Cast on 60 (64) 68 stitches and work 3.25 in (8 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing evenly 13 (9) 5 stitches in the last row = 73 stitches.
Continue in Lace Pattern.
For sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch at each side 28 (29) 27 times on every 4th row and 0 (2) 6 times on every 2nd row, incorporating increased stitches into the pattern = 129 (135) 139 stitches.
At 16.5 in (42 cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off 6 (7) 8 stitches at each side, then on every 2nd row bind off 4 stitches once, 3 stitches once, 2 stitches twice, 1 stitch 15 times, 2 stitches 5 times, 3 stitches 3 times, and 4 stitches once.
At 22.75 in (58 cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining stitches.

On the right front, make 4 buttonholes at a height of 0.6 in (1.5 cm) (= bind off 2 stitches and cast them on again in the following row).
Make the first buttonhole 7 stitches from the lower edge, and the remaining buttonholes at intervals of 18 stitches.
Sew side seams and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
