Summer Lace Pattern Cardigan

How to knit a summer lace pattern cardigan:
Size: US 6-8 / UK 10-12 / EU 36-38.
Materials:
250 g yarn (100% acrylic; 394 yds/3.53 oz); US 0 (2.0 mm) and US 1½ (2.5 mm) knitting needles; 5 buttons, 1-1.2 in (2.5-3 cm) in diameter.

Ribbing Pattern 2/2: *Knit 2, purl 2; repeat from * throughout.

Stockinette Stitch: right-side rows knit stitches, wrong-side rows purl stitches.

Lace Pattern:
Work according to chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work stitches as they appear and purl the yarn overs.
Repeat Rows 1-8 throughout.

Gauge: 25 stitches x 32 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).

Back:
Using US 0 (2.0 mm) needles, cast on 88 stitches and work 3.25 in (8 cm) in Ribbing Pattern 2/2, increasing 5 stitches evenly across the last wrong-side row = 93 stitches.
Change to US 1½ (2.5 mm) needles and continue as follows: 1 edge stitch, 13 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 63 stitches (= 9 pattern repeats) Lace Pattern, 2 purl stitches, 13 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 1 edge stitch.
At a height of 13.5 in (34 cm) from the beginning, bind off 4 stitches at each side for armholes, then in every second row bind off 2 stitches once and 1 stitch 4 times = 73 stitches.
At a height of 19.75 in (50 cm), bind off the center 31 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For neckline shaping, bind off 3 stitches once and 2 stitches once at the inner edge in every second row.
At a height of 20.5 in (52 cm), bind off the remaining 16 shoulder stitches on each side.


Left Front:
Using US 0 (2.0 mm) needles, cast on 40 stitches and work 3.25 in (8 cm) in Ribbing Pattern 2/2, increasing 3 stitches evenly across the last wrong-side row = 43 stitches.
Change to US 1½ (2.5 mm) needles and continue as follows: 1 edge stitch, 13 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 28 stitches (= 4 pattern repeats) Lace Pattern, 1 edge stitch.
At a height of 13.5 in (34 cm), bind off 4 stitches at the right edge for the armhole, then in every second row bind off 2 stitches once and 1 stitch 4 times = 33 stitches.
At a height of 14.25 in (36 cm), bind off 7 stitches at the left edge for the neckline, then in every second row bind off 3 stitches once, 2 stitches once and 1 stitch 5 times.
Work any incomplete pattern repeat in Stockinette Stitch.
At a height of 20.5 in (52 cm), bind off the remaining 16 shoulder stitches.

Right Front: work symmetrically to Left Front.

Sleeves:
Using US 0 (2.0 mm) needles, cast on 56 stitches and work 1.25 in (3 cm) in Ribbing Pattern 2/2, increasing 3 stitches evenly across the last wrong-side row = 59 stitches.
Change to US 1½ (2.5 mm) needles and continue as follows: 1 edge stitch, 10 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 35 stitches (= 5 pattern repeats) Lace Pattern, 2 purl stitches, 10 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 1 edge stitch.
At a height of 4 in (10 cm), bind off 4 stitches at each side for the sleeve cap, then in every second row bind off 2 stitches once and 1 stitch 18 times.
At a height of 6.75 in (17 cm), bind off the remaining 11 stitches.

Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.
Using US 0 (2.0 mm) needles, pick up 120 stitches around the neckline, work 1.4 in (3.5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern 2/2 and bind off all stitches.
Along each front edge, pick up 100 stitches and work 1.4 in (3.5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern 2/2.
At the same time, make 5 buttonholes on the right band (= after 6 stitches from the lower edge stitch, 3 times at intervals of 24 stitches, then once after 16 stitches): at 0.6 in (1.5 cm), bind off 2 stitches and cast them on again in the following row.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
Sew on buttons.
