Summer Sweater with Lace Stitch Patterns

How to knit the Sweater with Lace Stitch Patterns:
Sizes: US 6/8 (10/12), UK 10/12 (14/16), EU 38/40 (42/44)
Materials:
700 (850) g cotton yarn (100% cotton; 90 m/50 g, approximately 98 (109) yds/1.76 oz); US 2½ (3.0 mm) and US 6 (4.0 mm) knitting needles; US 2½ (3.0 mm) short circular needle.

Ribbing Pattern, US 2½ (3.0 mm) needles: work 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch alternately throughout.

Work all following stitch patterns with US 6 (4.0 mm) needles.
Stockinette Stitch: right-side rows: knit stitches; wrong-side rows: purl stitches.

Garter Stitch: knit every row.

Lace Triangles (over 11 stitches):
Work according to Chart 1, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and the yarn overs.

Lace Diamonds (over 12 stitches):
Work according to Chart 2, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and the yarn overs.

Lace Stitch Pattern (over 16 stitches):
Work according to Chart 3, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and the yarn overs.


Stripe Pattern: 4 rows Garter Stitch, 6 rows Stockinette Stitch, 4 rows Garter Stitch.

Pattern Sequence: * 14 rows Stripe Pattern, 10 rows Lace Triangles, 14 rows Stripe Pattern, 20 rows Lace Diamonds, 14 rows Stripe Pattern, 18 rows Lace Stitch Pattern; repeat from * throughout, arranging the patterns from the center.

Gauge: 22 stitches and 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches).

Back:
Cast on 100 (112) stitches and work 4 cm (1.6 inches) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 20 stitches evenly across the last row.
Continue in Pattern Sequence.
When the piece measures 62 (66) cm (24.4 (26.0) inches) from the ribbing, bind off the center 20 stitches for the neckline and finish each side separately.
Shape the neckline by binding off 6 stitches twice at the inner edge on every second row.
When the piece measures 64 (68) cm (25.2 (26.8) inches) from the ribbing, bind off the remaining stitches for each shoulder.

Front:
Work as for the Back, but with a deeper neckline.
When the piece measures 54 (58) cm (21.3 (22.8) inches) from the ribbing, bind off the center 14 stitches and finish each side separately.
Shape the neckline by binding off at the inner edge on every second row: 4 stitches once, 3 stitches once, and 2 stitches four times.
When the piece measures 64 (68) cm (25.2 (26.8) inches) from the ribbing, bind off the remaining stitches for each shoulder.

Sleeves:
Cast on 50 (54) stitches and work 6 cm (2.4 inches) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 20 stitches evenly across the last row.
Continue in Pattern Sequence.
Shape the sleeves by increasing 1 stitch at each side on every fifth row 22 (24) times.
When the sleeve measures 35 (38) cm (13.8 (15.0) inches) from the ribbing, bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
With the circular needle, pick up 110 stitches around the neckline, work 3 cm (1.2 inches) in Ribbing Pattern, then bind off all stitches.
Sew the side and sleeve seams. Set in the sleeves.
