Summer Sweater with Short Sleeves
How to knit the Sweater with Short Sleeves, Ribbing Pattern and Lace Pattern:
Sizes: S/M (L/XL) XXL/XXXL.
Finished measurements:
Bust circumference: 37.8 (42.5) 47.2 inches / 96 (108) 120 cm.
Length: 22 (21.3) 20.5 inches / 56 (54) 52 cm.
Materials:
8.8 (10.6) 12.3 oz / 250 (300) 350 g yarn (50% cotton, 50% acrylic, 142 yd/50 g); US 4 knitting needles / UK 9 knitting needles and US C-2 crochet hook / 3 mm crochet hook.
Ribbing Pattern:
Alternately work 2 purl stitches and 4 knit stitches, end with 2 purl stitches.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Lace Pattern (over 22 stitches):
Work according to chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
Work Rows 1–16 once, then repeat Rows 7–16 throughout.
Gauge, measured slightly stretched:
23.5 stitches and 29.5 rows = 4 x 4 inches / 10 x 10 cm.
Back:
Cast on 104 (114) 124 stitches and work 1 wrong-side row alternately 1 knit stitch and 1 purl stitch.
This row is not included in the following calculations.
Continue in the following distribution: 1 edge stitch, 10 (15) 20 stitches Ribbing Pattern, for the 1st size begin with 2 knit stitches, for the 2nd size begin with 1 knit stitch, last 10 stitches of the Lace Pattern, 20 stitches Ribbing Pattern, 22 stitches Lace Pattern, first 10 stitches of the Lace Pattern, 10 (15) 20 stitches Ribbing Pattern, for the 1st size end with 2 knit stitches, for the 2nd size end with 1 knit stitch, 1 edge stitch.
After 14.2 inches / 36 cm = 106 rows (13.4 inches / 34 cm = 100 rows) 12.6 inches / 32 cm = 94 rows from cast-on, for the armholes bind off 3 stitches once on both sides, then in every 2nd row bind off 2 stitches twice and 1 stitch 3 times = 84 (94) 104 stitches.
After 21.3 inches / 54 cm = 160 rows from cast-on, for the neckline bind off the middle 34 (36) 38 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For neckline shaping, from the inner edge in every 2nd row bind off 3 stitches once and 2 stitches once.
After 22 inches / 56 cm = 166 rows from cast-on bind off the remaining 20 (24) 28 stitches for each shoulder.
Front:
Work as for the Back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this, already after 20.5 inches / 52 cm = 154 rows from cast-on bind off the middle 26 (28) 30 stitches and in every 2nd row bind off 3 stitches once, 2 stitches twice and 1 stitch twice.
Sleeves:
Cast on 70 (80) 90 stitches and work 1 wrong-side row knit stitches.
Continue in the following distribution: 1 edge stitch, 23 (28) 33 stitches Ribbing Pattern, for the 1st size begin with 3 knit stitches, for the 2nd size begin with 2 knit stitches and for the 3rd size begin with 1 knit stitch, 22 stitches Lace Pattern, 23 (28) 33 stitches Ribbing Pattern, 1 edge stitch.
At the same time, for sleeve shaping from cast-on increase 1 stitch on both sides 7 times in every 4th row according to pattern = 84 (94) 104 stitches.
For sleeve shaping after 4 inches / 10 cm = 30 rows from cast-on bind off 4 (4) 5 stitches once on both sides, then in every 2nd row bind off 3 (4) 4 stitches once, 2 stitches 5 times, 1 stitch 6 times, 2 stitches 4 times, 3 stitches once and 3 (4) 5 stitches once.
After 9 inches / 23 cm = 68 rows from cast-on bind off the remaining 10 (16) 22 stitches.
Finishing:
Close shoulder seams.
Crochet the neckline edge with 1 round of single crochet stitches and crab stitch.
Close side seams and sleeve seams, sew in sleeves.
