How to knit the Summer Top with Lace Pattern:
Sizes: US 6 (US 8/10) US 12/14
Finished Bust: approximately 36 (40/44) in / 91 (102/112 cm
Materials:
550 (600) 650 g viscose-cotton yarn (115 yd/50 g); US 2.5 (3.0 mm) and US 4 (3.5 mm) circular knitting needles; US E-4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook.

Ribbing Pattern, US 2.5 needles: work alternately 1 knit stitch and 1 purl stitch.

Stockinette Stitch, US 2.5 needles: right-side rows – knit stitches, wrong-side rows – purl stitches; in rounds work knit stitches only.

Band Pattern, US 2.5 needles: 8 rows/rounds in Stockinette Stitch; 1 row/round for the folding line (= * knit 2 stitches together, yarn over, repeat from * throughout); 7 rows/rounds in Stockinette Stitch.

Reverse Stockinette Stitch, US 4 needles: right-side rows – purl stitches, wrong-side rows – knit stitches; in rounds work purl stitches only.

Lace Band, US 4 needles:
Rows 1, 2 and 4: Stockinette Stitch.
Row 3: * yarn over, knit 2 stitches together, repeat from * throughout.
Repeat these 4 rows throughout.

Diamond Pattern, US 4 needles:
Work according to Chart 1, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.


Lace Pattern, US 4 needles:
Work according to Chart 2, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.

Pattern Sequence: 4 rows Reverse Stockinette Stitch; 4 rows Stockinette Stitch; 8 rows Lace Band; 28 rows Lace Pattern beginning at Arrow A; 8 rows Lace Band; 10 rows Stockinette Stitch; 42 rows: work the center 125 (125) 150 stitches in Diamond Pattern and the remaining stitches in Stockinette Stitch; 118 rows Stockinette Stitch; 12 rows Lace Band.

Gauge: 25 stitches and 32.5 rows = 4 x 4 in / 10 x 10 cm.

Front:
Cast on 125 (135) 146 stitches and work 2 in / 5 cm in the Band Pattern.
Continue in the Pattern Sequence.
At the same time, for side shaping increase 1 stitch at each side every 18th row 5 times = 135 (145) 156 stitches.
After 26.75 in / 68 cm from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 21 (21) 24 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For neckline shaping, at the inner edge bind off every 2nd row: 3 stitches once, 2 stitches 1 (1) 2 times, and 1 stitch 4 times.
After 29.5 in / 75 cm from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.

Back:
Work as Front, but after 29 in / 74 cm from the cast-on edge bind off the center 39 (39) 46 stitches.

Finishing:
Join shoulder seams.
Join side seams, leaving the upper 10 in / 25 cm open for the armholes.
Pick up the required number of stitches around each armhole and work the Band Pattern, then bind off all stitches.
Fold all bands along the folding line and sew in place.
Crochet around the neckline working 2 rounds of single crochet and 1 round of reverse single crochet (crab stitch).
