Gauge: in this pattern sequence with needles size 5 mm = 16 stitches and 24 rows = 10 × 10 cm.
Back:
With needles size 4.5 mm, cast on 95 (101) 107 stitches and work 2.5 cm in the border ribbing pattern.
Continue with needles size 5 mm following the pattern sequence.
For the armholes, when work measures 33.5 (34.5) 33.5 cm from the border, bind off 8 stitches at each side = 79 (85) 91 stitches remain.
For the neckline, after 26 (27) 28 cm of armhole height, bind off the center 21 (23) 25 stitches and finish each side separately.
At the inner edge, bind off 5 stitches once in the next wrong-side row.
Work another 2 cm and bind off the remaining 24 (26) 28 stitches.
Front:
Work as for the back, but with a deeper neckline.
To shape the neckline, after 19 (20) 21 cm of armhole height, bind off the center 11 (13) 15 stitches and at each inner edge bind off 3, 2, and 5 × 1 stitch in every other row.
Bind off the remaining 24 (26) 28 stitches at the same height as for the back.
Sleeves:
With needles size 4.5 mm, cast on 38 (38) 40 stitches and work 2.5 cm in the border ribbing pattern.
Continue with needles size 5 mm as follows: edge stitch, 3 (3) 4 stitches in reverse stockinette, 9 stitches in stripe pattern, 12 stitches in cable panel, 9 stitches in stripe pattern, edge stitch.
For sleeve shaping, after the border increase 24 (23) 21 times in every 4th row and 3 (5) 8 times in every 2nd row 1 stitch in reverse stockinette at each side = 92 (94) 98 stitches.
When the sleeve measures 48.5 (48.5) 47.5 cm from the border, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Sew all seams, leaving the top 5 cm of the sleeves open.
With circular needle, pick up about 68 (71) 74 stitches around the neckline and work 5 cm in the border ribbing pattern, then bind off all stitches.
Sew in the sleeves.
