How to knit the Sweater in Fantasy Pattern:
Sizes: Small (US 6–8 / UK 10–12) – Large (US 14–16 / UK 18–20).
The instructions for size Large are given in parentheses.
Material:
800 (900) g yarn (50% cotton, 50% polyacrylic, 66 yds/50 g – 60 m/50 g). Circular knitting needles size US 9 and US 10 (5.5 mm and 6 mm), and crochet hook size US C/2 (2.5 mm).
Ribbing Pattern (needles size US 9 / 5.5 mm): work *1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch*, repeat from *.
Fantasy Pattern (needles size US 10 / 6 mm):
Work according to chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work stitches as they appear.
Repeat rows 1–52 throughout.
Gauge: 14 stitches and 20 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).
Front:
Cast on 78 (92) stitches and work 1.25 in (3 cm) in Ribbing Pattern.
Continue in Fantasy Pattern, distributing stitches as follows: 1 edge stitch and once the last 2 stitches of the pattern repeat (1 edge stitch), 4 (5) times the 18-stitch pattern repeat, once the first 2 stitches of the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch (1 edge stitch).
At 23.5 in (60 cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 8 (10) stitches and in every 2nd row bind off 1 x 3 stitches (1 x 4 stitches), 1 x 2 stitches and 2 x 1 stitch.
At 26.75 in (68 cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining stitches.
Back:
Work as for the front, but with a shallower neckline.
At 26 in (66 cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 12 (14) stitches and in every 2nd row bind off 1 x 3 (1 x 4) stitches and 1 x 2 stitches.
Sleeves:
Cast on 34 (38) stitches and work 1.25 in (3 cm) in Ribbing Pattern.
Continue in Fantasy Pattern, distributing stitches as follows: 1 edge stitch, once the last 7 (0) stitches of the pattern repeat, 1 (2) times the pattern repeat, once the first 7 (0) stitches of the pattern repeat, 1 edge stitch.
For sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch on both sides in every 2nd row 20 times = 74 (78) stitches.
At 17.75 in (45 cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
Fold the sleeves in half and sew them in.
Sew the side seams and sleeve seams.
Crochet around the neckline with 1 round of single crochet and 1 round of reverse single crochet (single crochet worked from left to right).
