Begin the work with the sleeve.
With needles US 7 (UK 7), cast on 36 stitches and work 4 cm (1½ in) in ribbing.
Change to needles US 8 (UK 6) and continue in Half Brioche Pattern between the edge stitches, beginning from arrow A.
For sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch at each side every 6th row 10 times and every 5th row 12 times, working the new stitches into the pattern.
At 44 cm (17¼ in) from ribbing, increase 26 stitches at each side and continue straight.
At 18 (20) cm [7 (8) in] from the beginning, divide the stitches of the front and back in half and place the stitches of the back onto a stitch holder.
For the neckline of the front, bind off at each 2nd row 1 stitch 3 times, 2 stitches 2 times, then work straight for 30 rows and finish the neckline in reverse order.
For rounding the neckline of the back, bind off 2 stitches once and 1 stitch once, then continue straight and finish the neckline in reverse order.
Gather all stitches onto one needle and work further in reverse order as for the left sleeve.
For the lower band, pick up 82 (90) stitches along the lower edges of the front and back, work 3 cm (1¼ in) in ribbing, and bind off all stitches.
Along the neckline, pick up 76 (84) stitches with circular needles, work 10 cm (4 in) in ribbing, and bind off all stitches.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
