Sweater in Lace Cable Pattern
How to knit the Sweater in Lace Cable Pattern:
Sizes: 36/38 (40/42) EU = 8/10 (12/14) UK = 4/6 (8/10) US.
Materials:
700 (750) g yarn (70% viscose, 30% wool; 120 yd/1.76 oz). Needles size 2.5 mm (US 1–2) and 3.5 mm (US 4).
Ribbing Pattern, needles size 2.5 mm: work alternately 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.
Stockinette stitch: right-side rows knit stitches, wrong-side rows purl stitches.
Reverse stockinette stitch: right-side rows purl stitches, wrong-side rows knit stitches.
Seed stitch, needles size 3.5 mm: alternately 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch, shift the pattern every 2nd row.
Gauge: 24 stitches x 31 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).
Lace pattern over 15 stitches, needles size 3.5 mm:
Work according to chart 1, at the same time increase 8 stitches = 23 stitches.
The chart shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
During the work stitches are increased and decreased. Do not include these additional stitches in the stitch count.
Work rows 1 to 12 once, then repeat rows 3 to 12 throughout.
23 stitches = 4.3 in (11 cm) wide.
Cable 1 over 5 stitches, needles size 3.5 mm:
Work according to chart 2, at the same time increase 1 stitch = 6 stitches.
The chart shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Work rows 1 to 4 once, then repeat rows 3 and 4 throughout.
6 stitches = 0.8 in (2 cm) wide.
Cable 2 over 8 stitches, needles size 3.5 mm:
Work according to chart 3, at the same time increase 4 stitches = 12 stitches.
The chart shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
Work rows 1 to 24 once, then repeat rows 3 to 24 throughout.
12 stitches = 1.4 in (3.5 cm) wide.
Bobble pattern over 13 stitches, needles size 3.5 mm:
Work according to chart 4, at the same time increase 2 stitches = 15 stitches.
The chart shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Work rows 1 to 14 once, then repeat rows 3 to 14 throughout.
15 stitches = 2 in (5 cm) wide.
Band pattern, needles size 2.5 mm:
Work according to chart 5, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
Repeat rows 1 to 14 throughout.
Back:
Cast on 115 (125) stitches and work 0.4 in (1 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, at the same time in row 1 (wrong side) after the edge stitch begin with 1 purl stitch (1 knit stitch).
Then work the band as follows: edge stitch (edge stitch and 5 stitches as in Ribbing Pattern), 6 pattern repeats of the band pattern, stitches 1 to 5 of the repeat, for size 40/42 additionally 5 stitches in Ribbing Pattern as at the beginning, edge stitch.
Work rows 1 to 14 twice.
Continue as follows: edge stitch, 18 (23) stitches Seed stitch, 6 stitches Cable 1, 15 stitches Bobble pattern, 6 stitches Cable 1, 12 stitches Cable 2, 23 stitches Lace pattern, 12 stitches Cable 2, 6 stitches Cable 1, 15 stitches Bobble pattern, 6 stitches Cable 1, 18 (23) stitches Seed stitch, edge stitch = 139 (149) stitches.
At a height of 13.8 (14.2) in (35 (36) cm), for the armholes bind off on both sides once 6 stitches, then in every 2nd row once 4 stitches, twice 2 stitches and 4 times 1 stitch = 103 (113) stitches.
At a height of 20.9 (21.7) in (53 (55) cm), for the neck band work over the middle 43 stitches alternately 6 stitches Cable 1 and 1 stitch reverse stockinette stitch, at the same time in row 1 decrease 1 stitch at the left and right edge = 41 stitches neck band.
For Cable 1 always begin with row 3 and repeat only rows 3 and 4.
At a height of 21.7 (22.4) in (55 (57) cm), for the neckline bind off the middle 41 stitches of the band, continue to work the outer stitches straight.
At the same time at a height of 22 (22.8) in (56 (58) cm), for the shoulder slopes bind off in every 2nd row twice 7 stitches and twice 8 stitches (once 8 stitches and three times 9 stitches).
Front:
Work as the back, but begin the neck band already at a height of 19.7 (20.5) in (50 (52) cm), and at a height of 20.5 (21.3) in (52 (54) cm) bind off the middle 41 stitches.
At a height of 22 (22.8) in (56 (58) cm) work the shoulder slopes as on the back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 57 stitches and work 0.4 in (1 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, at the same time in row 1 (wrong side) after the edge stitch begin with 1 purl stitch.
Then work the band as follows: edge stitch, stitches 3 to 18 of the pattern repeat of the band pattern, 2 pattern repeats, stitches 1 to 3 of the repeat, edge stitch.
Then work 2 rows stockinette stitch, at the same time in row 1 increase 22 stitches evenly = 79 stitches.
Continue as follows: edge stitch, 15 stitches Bobble pattern, 12 stitches Cable 2, 23 stitches Lace pattern, 12 stitches Cable 2, 15 stitches Bobble pattern, edge stitch.
At the same time begin all patterns with row 3.
For the sleeve shaping increase on both sides in every 6th row 15 times 1 stitch (5 times 1 stitch), then for size 40/42 alternately in every 4th and 6th row 12 times 1 stitch = 109 (113) stitches.
Work the increased stitches in Seed stitch.
At a height of 14 in (35.5 cm), for the sleeve cap bind off on both sides once 3 stitches, then in every 2nd row twice 2 stitches, 20 times 1 stitch, 3 times 2 stitches and 2 times 3 stitches, then bind off the remaining stitches working 2 stitches together.
Work the second sleeve in the same way.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
Sew the side seams and sleeve seams, set in the sleeves.
