Sweater in Lace Leaf Pattern

How to knit the Sweater in Lace Leaf Pattern:
Sizes: 34/36 (38–42) EU = US 2/4 (6–10) / UK 6/8 (10–14)

Material:
700 (750) g yarn (100% cotton, mercerized, gassed, 140 m/50 g ≈ 153 yds/1.76 oz), knitting needles US 1.5 (2.5 mm) and US 2.5 (3 mm); crochet hook US C-2 (3 mm); one cable needle.

Ribbing Pattern: * knit 2, purl 2 *, repeat throughout.

Lace Leaf Pattern: multiple of 14 stitches + 3 stitches.
Work according to chart 1, only right-side rows are shown.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
In width begin with the stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with the stitches after the pattern repeat.
In height work rows 1–12 four times, then work rows 13–44 once, after that work rows 13–50 once more.

Leaf Pattern: multiple of 14 stitches + 3 stitches.
Work according to chart 2, only right-side rows are shown.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
In width begin with the stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with the stitches after the pattern repeat.
In height work rows 1–62 once, then repeat rows 17–62 throughout.
Due to the increases in row 9 of chart 2, the pattern repeat from this point consists of 16 stitches instead of 14 stitches.

Leaf Edging (over 7 stitches):
Work according to chart 3, right-side and wrong-side rows are shown.
In height work rows 1–19 once, then repeat rows 2–19 throughout.

Gauge:
Lace Leaf Pattern, needles US 2.5 (3 mm): 27 stitches and 35 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm);
Leaf Pattern, needles US 2.5 (3 mm): 31 stitches and 35 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).

Back:
Cast on 143 (157) stitches with needles US 2.5 (3 mm) and work as follows: 118 rows in Lace Leaf Pattern, 106 (114) rows in Leaf Pattern.
Due to the increases within the Leaf Pattern, after 127 rows from the beginning there are 163 (179) stitches on the needles.
After 25¼ in = 224 rows (26 in = 232 rows) from the beginning, bind off all stitches.
The outer 51 (59) stitches form the shoulders, the middle 61 stitches form the neckline.

Front:
Work as back, but with neckline shaping.
For this, after 21¾ in = 192 rows (22½ in = 200 rows) from the beginning, bind off the middle 17 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For the neckline shaping at the inner edge, bind off in every second row 1 time 4 stitches, 2 times 3 stitches each, 3 times 2 stitches each and 6 times 1 stitch each.
Bind off the remaining 51 (59) shoulder stitches at the same height as for the back.

Sleeves:
Cast on 54 (58) stitches with needles US 1.5 (2.5 mm) and work 2 in (5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern for the cuff, in the last cuff row increase evenly by working twisted stitches from the horizontal strand 47 (49) stitches = 101 (107) stitches.
Continue with needles US 2.5 (3 mm) in Leaf Pattern, beginning with row 11 of chart 2 and arrange the pattern from the center.
For sleeve shaping from the cuff, increase on both sides 4 (0) times in every 6th row and 27 (34) times in every 4th row 1 stitch each = 163 (175) stitches.
Incorporate the increased stitches into the Leaf Pattern.
After 15¼ in = 136 rows (15¾ in = 140 rows) from the cuff, bind off all stitches.

Edging:
Cast on 7 stitches with needles US 2.5 (3 mm) and work according to chart 3.
After 40½ in = 361 rows (44½ in = 397 rows) from the beginning, bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Close the seams, leaving the upper 10¼ (11) in open at the side seams for the armholes.
Sew the short sides of the edging together and sew the edging to the lower cast-on edge of back and front.
Crochet the neckline edge as follows:
Round 1: single crochet stitches.
Join this and the following round with 1 slip stitch into the first single crochet.
Round 2: 1 single crochet into the first single crochet, skip 1 stitch, * 1 group (= 1 half double crochet, 1 double crochet, 1 treble crochet, 1 double crochet, 1 half double crochet into the next single crochet), skip 1 stitch, 1 single crochet into the next single crochet, skip 1 stitch, repeat from * throughout, end with 1 group into the next single crochet, skip 1 stitch.
Set in the sleeves.
