How to knit the sweater with lace textured pattern with imitation cables:

Material:
17.5 (19.5) 21 oz yarn (52% merino wool, 48% cotton, 110 yd/1.75 oz); straight needles and circular needles US 8 (5 mm).
Lace textured pattern with imitation cables: number of stitches a multiple of 8 + 5 + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to chart 1, which shows right-side and wrong-side rows.
Begin with the edge stitch and the stitches before the repeat, repeat the stitches of the repeat throughout, end with the stitches after the repeat and the edge stitch.
Repeat rows 1 to 4 throughout.

After 14 inches = 92 rows (14.5 inches = 96 rows) 15 inches = 100 rows from cast-on edge, bind off for the armholes on both sides 3 stitches, then in every second row bind off 1 time 2 stitches and 3 times 1 stitch = 79 (87) 95 stitches.
After 20.75 inches = 136 rows (22 inches = 144 rows) 23 inches = 152 rows from cast-on edge, bind off for the shoulder slopes on both sides 5 (5) 6 stitches, then in every second row bind off 1 time 5 (5) 6 stitches and 2 times 6 (7) 7 stitches.
At the same time, with the first shoulder decrease, bind off the center 25 (29) 33 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For the rounding, bind off at the inner edge in every second row 1 time 3 stitches and 1 time 2 stitches.
After 21.5 inches = 142 rows (22.75 inches = 150 rows) 24 inches = 158 rows from cast-on edge, all stitches must be bound off.

Front:
Cast on 95 (103) 111 stitches and work as follows: edge stitch, 37 stitches lace textured pattern with imitation cables, 19 (27) 35 stitches stockinette stitch, 37 stitches lace textured pattern with imitation cables, edge stitch.
After 14 inches = 92 rows from cast-on edge, mark for the V-shaped yoke the last 12 stitches of the lace textured pattern with imitation cables before the stockinette stitch panel and the first 12 stitches of the lace textured pattern with imitation cables after the stockinette stitch panel.
In the next right-side row, before the first marker and after the second marker, work 2 stitches together purlwise; at the same time, before and after the stockinette stitch panel, from the horizontal strand between stitches, knit 1 through the back loop.

Cast on 53 (61) 69 stitches and work in the lace textured pattern with imitation cables, beginning with the edge stitch and the stitches from arrow A, repeat the stitches of the repeat throughout, end with the stitches to arrow B and the edge stitch.
For the sleeve shaping, increase on both sides in every tenth row 10 times 1 stitch (in every tenth row 4 times 1 stitch and in every twelfth row 5 times 1 stitch) in every twelfth row 6 times 1 stitch and in every fourteenth row 2 times 1 stitch, working the increased stitches into the pattern = 73 (79) 85 stitches.

After 21.5 inches = 142 rows from cast-on edge, bind off the remaining 11 (17) 23 stitches.
Finishing:
Join the shoulder seams; from the neckline, with circular needles, pick up 88 (96) 104 stitches, work 1.75 inches = 12 rounds in the border pattern, then bind off the stitches as they appear.
Set in the sleeves, join the side seams and sleeve seams.
