Sweater with Cable Pattern

How to knit the cable sweater:
Sizes: US 6/8 (10/12) 16/18.
Material:
900 (950) 1000 g yarn (100% Merino wool, 85 m/50 g); straight needles and circular needle size 7 mm (US 10.5 or 11).
Abbreviation:
K: knit stitch
P: purl stitch
st/sts: stitch/stitches

Stitch Patterns:

Garter stitch: Knit all stitches in RS (Right Side) and WS (Wrong Side) rows.
Cable pattern:
Number of stitches multiple of 20 + 17 (5) 5 + 2 edge sts.
Work according to the chart, which shows RS rows only.
In WS rows, work stitches as they appear (knit the knits, purl the purls) or as indicated; purl the slipped stitches.
Start with 1 edge st and the last 16 (0) 0 sts of the repeat, work the repeat continuously, end with the first 1 (5) 5 sts of the repeat and 1 edge st.
Repeat rows 1–30.
Ribbing (Rib pattern):
Edge st, * K2, P2 *; repeat from * to *, end with K2 and edge st.
In WS rows, work stitches as they appear.

Gauge (Cable pattern): 18 sts and 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4" x 4").

Instructions:

Back:
Cast on 79 (87) 107 sts using the Long-tail cast on method and work in Cable pattern.
When piece measures 63 cm = 132 rows (65 cm = 136 rows) 65 cm = 136 rows from the cast-on edge, bind off for shoulder slopes on both sides 7 (8) 12 sts, and in every 2nd row bind off 2 x 8 (9) 12 sts.
At the same time as the first shoulder decrease, bind off the center 27 (29) 29 sts for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For the neck rounding, bind off 1 x 3 sts at the inner edge in the next 2nd row.
Finish the piece when it measures 65 cm = 136 rows (67 cm = 140 rows) 67 cm = 140 rows from the cast-on edge.
Front:
Work same as Back, but for a deeper neckline, bind off the center 17 (19) 19 sts when piece measures 58 cm = 122 rows (60 cm = 126 rows) 60 cm = 126 rows from the cast-on edge. Then bind off at the neck edge in every 2nd row: 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts, and 3 x 1 st.

Sleeves:
Cast on 48 (56) 64 sts and work in Rib pattern for 18 cm for the cuff, increasing 1 st in the last row = 49 (57) 65 sts.
Then continue in Cable pattern as follows: edge st, last 11 (15) 19 sts of the repeat, 1 (2) 2 repeats, end with first 16 (0) 4 sts of the repeat, edge st.
At the same time, increase for sleeve slopes from the cuff on both sides: in every 8th row 2 times, and in every 6th row 9 times 1 st = 71 (79) 87 sts. Incorporate the increased stitches into the pattern.
Bind off all stitches when sleeve measures 36 cm = 76 rows from the cuff.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.
For the collar, pick up 116 (120) 120 sts onto the circular needle from the neckline edge, starting and ending 4 sts before the center front. Work in Rib pattern in rows (back and forth).
When collar measures 23 cm, bind off all stitches loosely in pattern.
Set in sleeves.
Sew side and sleeve seams. For the turn-up cuff, sew the bottom 9 cm of the sleeve seam from the RS (outside) so the seam is hidden when folded.
