Sweater with Cables

How to knit the Sweater with Cables
Size: EU 46 (US 16 / UK 20)
Materials:
470 g yarn (33 % camel, 44 % merino wool, 23 % polyamide, 200 m/100 g); knitting needles 3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.5 mm (US 7).
Ribbing Pattern: 2 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches.
Reverse Stockinette Stitch: On right-side rows work purl stitches, on wrong-side rows work knit stitches.
Cable A:
Row 1: knit stitches.
Row 2 and all even rows: work the stitches as they appear.
Row 3: cross 4 stitches to the right: slip 2 stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the back, work 2 knit stitches, then work the stitches from the cable needle as knit stitches.
Repeat these 4 rows throughout.
Cable B:
Row 1: knit stitches.
Row 2 and all even rows: work the stitches as they appear.
Row 3: cross 4 stitches to the left: slip 2 stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the front, work 2 knit stitches, then work the stitches from the cable needle as knit stitches.
Repeat these 4 rows throughout.
Large Cable A:
Rows 1, 3 and 5: knit stitches.
Row 2 and all even rows: work the stitches as they appear.
Row 7: cross 6 stitches to the right: slip 3 stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the back, work 3 knit stitches, then work the stitches from the cable needle as knit stitches.
Rows 9, 11 and 13: knit stitches.
Row 15: cross 6 stitches to the left: slip 3 stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the front, work 3 knit stitches, then work the stitches from the cable needle as knit stitches.
Repeat rows 1 to 16 throughout.
Large Cable B:
Rows 1, 3 and 5: knit stitches.
Row 2 and all even rows: work the stitches as they appear.
Row 7: cross 6 stitches to the left: slip 3 stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the front, work 3 knit stitches, then work the stitches from the cable needle as knit stitches.
Rows 9, 11 and 13: knit stitches.
Row 15: cross 6 stitches to the right: slip 3 stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the back, work 3 knit stitches, then work the stitches from the cable needle as knit stitches.
Repeat rows 1 to 16 throughout.
Central Cable Pattern:
Work according to the chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Work rows 1 to 24 once, then repeat rows 5 to 24 throughout.
Gauge: 17 stitches and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Sweater with Cables
Back:
With 3.5 mm needles cast on 86 stitches and work 10 rows in Ribbing Pattern, in the last wrong-side row increase 10 stitches evenly by working them twisted from the strand between stitches = 96 stitches.
Continue with 4.5 mm needles and work as follows: edge stitch, 14 purl stitches, 4 stitches Cable A, 8 purl stitches, 6 stitches Large Cable A, 30 stitches Central Cable Pattern, 6 stitches Large Cable B, 8 purl stitches, 4 stitches Cable B, 14 purl stitches, edge stitch.
For waist shaping decrease 1 stitch at each side in every 10th row 4 times = 8

8 stitches.
At a height of 24 cm from the beginning increase 1 stitch at each side in every 10th row 3 times = 94 stitches.
For armholes at a height of 40 cm from the beginning bind off 5 stitches at each side, then in every 2nd row bind off 2 stitches twice and 1 stitch once = 74 stitches.
At a height of 62 cm from the beginning for the neckline place the central 24 stitches on hold and finish both sides separately.
For shaping the neckline at the inner edge in every 2nd row place 5 stitches on hold once and 2 stitches on hold once, making a yarn over when turning.
At the same time for shoulder shaping bind off 9 stitches twice at each side in every 2nd row.
Place the open neckline stitches on a holder.
Front:
Work as for Back, but for the neckline at a height of 58 cm from the beginning place the central 14 stitches on hold and finish both sides separately.
For shaping the neckline at the inner edge in every 2nd row place 3 stitches on hold twice, 2 stitches on hold twice and 1 stitch on hold twice.
Place the open neckline stitches on a holder.
Sleeves:
With 3.5 mm needles cast on 34 stitches for each sleeve and work 10 rows in Ribbing Pattern, in the last wrong-side row increase 10 stitches evenly = 44 stitches.
Continue with 4.5 mm needles and work as follows: edge stitch, 6 stitches Large Cable A, 30 stitches Central Cable Pattern, 6 stitches Large Cable B, edge stitch.
For shaping increase 1 purl stitch at each side every 8th row 4 times and every 6th row 10 times = 72 stitches.
At a height of 41.5 cm from the beginning for the sleeve cap bind off 5 stitches at each side, then in every 2nd row bind off 2 stitches twice, 1 stitch 9 times, in every 4th row bind off 1 stitch twice and in every 2nd row bind off 2 stitches 3 times, then bind off the remaining 20 stitches.
Finishing:
Work the right shoulder seam.
Transfer the open neckline stitches to 3.5 mm needles and work the neckband in Ribbing Pattern for 4 cm.
Work the left shoulder seam and the neckband seam.
Work the side seams and sleeve seams, sew the sleeves into the armholes.
