Sweater with Diamond Cable Patterns

How to knit the sweater with Diamond Cable Patterns:
Sizes: EU 36/38 (40/42) 44/46 – US 6/8 (10/12) 14/16 – UK 10/12 (14/16) 18/20
Materials:
700 (750) 800 g yarn (100% wool, 160 m/50 g = approx. 175 yds/1.76 oz). Needles 2.5 mm (US 1–2) and 3 mm (US 2–3).
Ribbing Pattern (needles 2.5 mm / US 1–2): alternately knit 1 and purl 1.
Stockinette stitch: knit on right-side rows, purl on wrong-side rows.
Reverse Stockinette stitch: purl on right-side rows, knit on wrong-side rows.
Work the remaining patterns with needles 3 mm (US 2–3).
Main pattern:
Row 1 (right side): * knit 5, purl 3, repeat from *.
Row 2 (wrong side): * knit 4, purl 3, knit 1, repeat from *.
Repeat these 2 rows throughout.
Diamond Cable Pattern (over 31 sts):
Work according to chart 1, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Work the stitches of the chart across and repeat rows 1–16 vertically.
Cable Pattern A (over 15 sts):
Work according to chart 2, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Work the stitches of the chart across and repeat rows 1–36 vertically.
Cable Pattern B (over 15 sts):
Work according to chart 3, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Work the stitches of the chart across and repeat rows 1–36 vertically.
Gauge:
for front and back: 28 sts and 39.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in);
for sleeve: 25 sts and 39.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).
Back:
Cast on 138 (146) 162 sts and work 3 cm (1.2 in) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 8 (14) 12 sts evenly across the last row.
Then work 26 (33) 40 sts in Main pattern, beginning with knit 2 (knit 1/purl 3), 31 sts in Diamond Cable Pattern, 15 sts in Cable Pattern B and 15 sts in Cable Pattern A, 31 sts in Diamond Cable Pattern, 26 (33) 40 sts in Main pattern.
For the neckline, after 56.5 cm (22.2 in) from Ribbing Pattern, bind off the center 32 (32) 36 sts and finish both sides separately.
For the shaping at the neckline edge, bind off 4 sts once and 3 sts once on every 2nd row.
After 58 cm (22.8 in) from Ribbing Pattern, bind off the remaining 50 (57) 62 shoulder sts.
Front:
Work as for Back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this, after 52.5 cm (20.7 in) from Ribbing Pattern, bind off the center 22 (22) 26 sts and at the inner edge bind off on every 2nd row 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 1 st twice, and on the 4th row 1 st once.
After 5.5 cm (2.2 in) from the beginning of the neckline, bind off the remaining 50 (57) 62 shoulder sts.
Sleeve:
Cast on 54 sts and work 3 cm (1.2 in) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 7 sts evenly across the last row = 61 (65) 69 sts.
Then work 14 sts in Main pattern, beginning with knit 3, 31 sts in Diamond Cable Pattern, 14 sts in Main pattern.
For sleeve shaping, increase 1 st at both sides on every 4th row 38 (38) 34 times and on every 2nd row 2 (2) 6 times, working the new sts in pattern.
After 40 (40) 38 cm (15.7 (15.7) 15 in) from Ribbing Pattern, bind off all sts.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
Pick up 110 (110) 118 sts along the neckline edge and work 3 rounds knit.
Sew the sts from the wrong side using Kitchener stitch.
Pick up 114 (114) 122 sts along the neckline and work 6 cm (2.4 in) in Ribbing Pattern, then bind off the sts.
Set in the sleeves, sew the side seams and sleeve seams.
