Sweater with Diagonal Band and Fantasy Ribbing Pattern

How to knit the sweater with fantasy ribbing pattern:
Sizes: 38–40 (42–44)
Materials:
650 (700) g yarn (80% pure merino wool, 20% viscose, 109 yd/50 g); knitting needles US 8 (UK 6) and US 9 (UK 5.5).

Ribbing Pattern 1/1: work *1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch*, repeat from * to *.
Fantasy Ribbing Pattern:
Rows 1–8: 3 knit stitches, *2 purl stitches, 2 knit stitches*, repeat from * to * across the row.
Row 9: knit all stitches.
Row 10: purl all stitches.
Repeat these 10 rows throughout.
Gauge:
Fantasy ribbing pattern with needles US 9 (UK 5.5): 17 stitches and 25 rows = 4 × 4 in (10 × 10 cm).

Back:
With needles US 9 (UK 5.5), cast on 91 (99) stitches and work 4¼ in (11 cm) in Ribbing Pattern 1/1.
Then continue in Fantasy Ribbing Pattern.
When the piece measures 27¼ (27½) in [69 (70) cm] from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 11 (15) stitches for the neck and finish both sides separately, binding off 11 stitches at each neck edge on the following row.
When the work measures 27½ (28) in [70 (71) cm], bind off the remaining 29 (31) stitches for each shoulder.
Front:
The front is worked in two parts, which are then joined into one piece.
For the left front, with needles US 9 (UK 5.5) cast on 2 stitches and work in Fantasy Ribbing Pattern, increasing on the inner edge (at the beginning of the wrong-side row) every other row: 2 stitches 21 times and 1 stitch once (2 stitches 23 times and 1 stitch once).
You will have 45 (49) stitches.
After the last increase (right-side row), cut the yarn and place the stitches on a stitch holder.
Work the right front in the same way, but mirror-reversed.
When both parts are complete, work 1 wrong-side row over the stitches of the right front, cast on 1 stitch, then place the stitches of the left front onto the needle and work 1 wrong-side row across them as well — you will have 91 (99) stitches on the needle.
Continue in Fantasy Ribbing Pattern.
When the work measures 21¾ (22) in [55 (56) cm], bind off the center 11 (15) stitches for the neck and finish both sides separately, binding off at each neck edge: 1 time 5 stitches, 1 time 3 stitches, 1 time 2 stitches, and 1 time 1 stitch.
When the work measures 23¼ (23½) in [59 (60) cm], bind off the remaining 29 (31) stitches for each shoulder.
Sleeves:
With needles US 9 (UK 5.5) cast on 63 (67) stitches and work 1½ in (4 cm) in Ribbing Pattern 1/1.
Continue in Fantasy Ribbing Pattern.
At the same time, for sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch on each side, inside the edge stitch, every 8th row 8 times = 79 (83) stitches.
When the sleeve measures 19 (19¼) in [48 (49) cm], bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Sew the right shoulder seam.
For the neckband, with needles US 8 (UK 6) pick up and knit 100 (110) stitches around the neckline and work 1⅜ in (3.5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern 1/1, then bind off all stitches.
Sew the left shoulder seam and the seam of the neckband.
For the lower band of the right front, with needles US 9 (UK 5.5) pick up 54 (58) stitches along the lower edge up to the joining point of both parts and work 4¼ in (11 cm) in Ribbing Pattern 1/1, then bind off.
Work the lower band of the left front in the same way.
Sew the two bands together, overlapping the right one over the left.
Set in the sleeves (armhole width 8 (8¼) in [20 (21) cm]).
Sew side and sleeve seams.
