Sweater with Garter Stitch

How to knit a sweater with garter stitch:
Size: UK 12–16 / US 8–12
Material:
850 g yarn (100% wool, 93 yd/1.75 oz), circular needles size US 7 / UK 7 (4.5 mm) and size US 8 / UK 6 (5 mm).
Ribbing Pattern (needles size US 7 / UK 7): alternately knit 1, purl 1.
All following stitch patterns are worked with needles size US 8 / UK 6 (5 mm).
Stockinette Stitch: knit on right side rows, purl on wrong side rows.
Garter Stitch: knit on right side and wrong side rows.
Pattern with Garter Stitch: the number of stitches is a multiple of 24 + 1 + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to the chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches.
In width, begin with 1 edge stitch, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with 1 stitch after the repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Sequence of patterns:
First work once rows 1–30 of the chart, * then 2 rows in stockinette stitch, once rows 15–30 and repeat from * 4 times, afterwards each time work 2 additional rows in stockinette stitch (= in the first repeat 4 rows in stockinette stitch, in the second repeat 6 rows in stockinette stitch, and so on).
Work the remaining rows in stockinette stitch.
Gauge: 16.5 stitches and 26 rows = 4 × 4 in (10 × 10 cm).
Front:
Cast on 99 stitches and work 2 rows in garter stitch, then continue in the given sequence of patterns.
At 23¼ in (59 cm) height, for the neckline, bind off the center 11 stitches and in every 2nd row bind off 4 stitches once, 3 stitches once, 2 stitches once, and 1 stitch once.
At 26½ in (67 cm) height, bind off the remaining stitches.
Back:
Work as the front, but with a shallower neckline.
For this, at 25½ in (65 cm) height bind off the center 17 stitches and in every 2nd row bind off 4 stitches once and 3 stitches once.
Sleeves:
Cast on 51 stitches and work 2 rows in garter stitch, then continue in the given sequence of patterns, first working once rows 1–16, afterwards continue from row 31 in the sequence of patterns, and from row 103 work in stockinette stitch.
At the same time, for sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch on each side alternately every 4th and 6th row 20 times = 89 stitches.
At 17¼ in (44 cm) height, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Join shoulder seams.
Fold sleeves in half and sew in.
Join side and sleeve seams.
Along the neckline, pick up 84 stitches and work 1 round knit, in the next round work * knit 2 together, yarn over, repeat from *, then 1 round knit and 1¼ in (3 cm) in ribbing pattern. Then bind off all stitches.
