Sweater with Lace Cable Pattern

How to knit the Sweater with Lace Cable Pattern:
Sizes: 36/38 (40/42) EU = 8/10 (12/14) UK = 4/6 (8/10) US
Materials:
700 (800) g cotton yarn (100%, 153 yd/1.76 oz). Needles size 2 and 3 mm (US 0 and US 2.5), short circular needles size 2 mm (US 0) and a cable needle.

Ribbing Pattern: * knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch *, repeat.
Cable (over 4 stitches):
Row 1: * purl 1 stitch, cross 2 stitches to the right (= slip 1 stitch onto a cable needle and hold it behind the work, knit 1 stitch, then knit the stitch from the cable needle), purl 1 stitch; repeat from *.
Row 2: work the stitches as they appear.
Repeat these 2 rows throughout.
Reverse Stockinette Stitch: on right-side rows work purl stitches, on wrong-side rows work knit stitches.
Lace Cable Pattern (over 26 stitches):
Work according to chart 1; only right-side rows are shown.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear and purl the yarn overs.
Begin with 1 edge stitch, repeat the pattern, end with 1 stitch after the pattern and 1 edge stitch.
Repeat rows 1 to 16 throughout.
Leaf Pattern (over 16 stitches):
Work according to chart 2; only right-side rows are shown.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear and purl the yarn overs.
Repeat the pattern between the edge stitches.
Repeat rows 1 to 26 throughout.

Gauge: 27 stitches and 32 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm).


Back:
Cast on 120 (132) stitches with 2 mm (US 0) needles and work 6 cm (2.4 in) in ribbing, increasing evenly 33 stitches in the last row = 153 (165) stitches.
Change to 3 mm (US 2.5) needles and continue as follows: 3 stitches in reverse stockinette stitch, 1 time 16 stitches in leaf pattern and the first 13 stitches of the leaf pattern, 2 stitches in reverse stockinette stitch, 1 (2) times 4 stitches cable, 78 stitches lace cable pattern, 1 stitch reverse stockinette stitch, 1 (2) times 4 stitches cable, 2 stitches reverse stockinette stitch, 2 times 16 stitches leaf pattern.
At 28 (30) cm = 11 (11.8 in) from ribbing, bind off 14 (17) stitches at both sides.
At 28 cm (11 in) from the beginning of the armholes, bind off the middle 19 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For neck shaping, bind off 6 stitches 3 times every second row.
At 2 cm (0.8 in) from the beginning of the neckline, bind off the remaining stitches.

Front:
Work as for back, but with a deeper neckline.
At 22 cm (8.7 in) from the beginning of the armholes, bind off 13 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For neck shaping, bind off in every second row: 5 stitches once, 4 stitches once, 3 stitches twice and 2 stitches three times.
At 8 cm (3.1 in) from the beginning of the neckline, bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.

Sleeves:
Cast on 56 (62) stitches with 2 mm (US 0) needles and work 6 cm (2.4 in) in ribbing, increasing evenly 36 (30) stitches in the last row = 92 stitches.
Change to 3 mm (US 2.5) needles and continue in leaf pattern as follows: edge stitch, last 6 stitches of the pattern, repeat the pattern 5 times and work the first 4 stitches of the pattern, edge stitch.
For sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch at both sides in every 3rd row 35 times.
At 36 cm (14.2 in) from ribbing, work another 5 (6) cm = 2 (2.4 in), then bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Close the shoulder seams.
Pick up 126 stitches along the neckline with circular needles and work 6 cm (2.4 in) in cable pattern (alternating cross 2 stitches to the right and purl 1 stitch), then bind off all stitches.
Fold the neckband in half and sew it.
Close the side seams and sleeve seams. Set in the sleeves.
