Sweater with Lace Diamonds
How to knit a sweater with lace diamonds:
Size: EU 38–40 / US 8–10 / UK 10–12
Material:
300 g yarn (100% mercerized cotton, 396 m/150 g); knitting needles size 3.5 mm (US 4, UK 9).
Ribbing Pattern 1/1: * purl 1, knit 1, repeat from *.
Work according to the chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work all stitches and yarn overs as purl stitches.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and 5 stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat, end with 6 stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
In height, repeat rows 1–16 throughout.
Gauge: 26 stitches x 29 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).
Back:
Cast on 70 stitches and work 10 cm (4 in) in ribbing pattern 1/1.
Then continue in the lace diamond pattern.
At 32 cm (12 ½ in) from the beginning, for the armholes bind off 5 stitches once at each side.
At 49 cm (19 ¼ in) from the beginning, bind off all stitches.
Front:
Cast on 70 stitches and work 10 cm (4 in) in ribbing pattern 1/1.
Then continue in the lace diamond pattern.
At 32 cm (12 ½ in) from the beginning, for the armholes bind off 5 stitches once at each side.
At 34 cm (13 ½ in) from the beginning, for the neckline divide the work in half and finish each side separately.
At 49 cm (19 ¼ in) from the beginning, bind off all stitches.
Sleeves:
Cast on 70 stitches and work in the lace diamond pattern.
At 28 cm (11 in) from the beginning, for the sleeve cap bind off 5 stitches 5 times at each side in every 8th row.
At 42 cm (16 ½ in) from the beginning, bind off the remaining 20 stitches.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams (10 cm / 4 in each).
Sew the side seams (32 cm / 12 ½ in each), leaving 17 cm (6 ¾ in) open for the armholes.
