Sweater with Lace Stripes
How to knit the Sweater with Lace Stripes:
Sizes: EU 36/38 (US 4–6 / UK 8–10), 40/42 (US 8–10 / UK 12–14) and 44/46 (US 12–14 / UK 16–18).
Bust: 84–88 (92–96, 100–104) cm / 33–34.5 (36–38, 39–41) in
Materials:
850 (900/950) g yarn (100% cotton; 80 m/50 g = approx. 87 yd/1.76 oz). Needles 6 mm (US 10) and crochet hook 5 mm (US H-8).
Stockinette stitch: right-side rows knit, wrong-side rows purl.
Reverse stockinette stitch: right-side rows purl, wrong-side rows knit.
Lace Stripes (main pattern): number of stitches multiple of 8 + 5 + 2 edge stitches.
Row 1 (right side): knit stitches.
Row 2 (wrong side): edge stitch, * purl 1, yarn over, purl 3 stitches together, yarn over, purl 4, repeat from *, purl 1, yarn over, purl 3 stitches together, yarn over, purl 1, edge stitch.
Row 3: work all stitches and yarn overs knit.
Rows 4–7: reverse stockinette stitch.
Rows 8 and 9: stockinette stitch.
Row 10: edge stitch, * purl 5, yarn over, purl 3 stitches together, yarn over, repeat from *, purl 5, edge stitch.
Row 11: work all stitches and yarn overs knit.
Rows 12 and 13: stockinette stitch.
Row 14: work as Row 2.
Row 15: work all stitches and yarn overs purl.
Rows 16–18: reverse stockinette stitch.
Rows 19 and 20: stockinette stitch.
Row 21: edge stitch, knit 1, * knit 1, knit 2 stitches together, yarn over, knit 1, repeat from *, edge stitch.
Row 22: work all stitches and yarn overs purl.
Row 23: knit stitches.
Rows 24–31: reverse stockinette stitch.
Row 32: purl stitches.
Repeat Rows 1–32 throughout.
Gauge: 17 stitches x 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 in.
Back:
Cast on 95 (103/111) stitches and work 1 wrong-side row purl, then continue in the main pattern.
At a height of 66 (67/68) cm / 26 (26.5/27) in for the shoulder slopes bind off on both sides in every second row 5 times 5 stitches (1 time 5 and 4 times 6 stitches / 2 times 6 and 3 times 7 stitches).
At the same time at a height of 68 (69/70) cm / 26.5 (27/27.5) in bind off for the neckline the middle 39 stitches, then on both sides in the next second row bind off 1 time 3 stitches.
Front:
Work as the back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this at a height of 64 (65/66) cm / 25 (25.5/26) in bind off the middle 19 stitches, then on both sides in every second row bind off 1 time 4 stitches, 1 time 3 stitches, 2 times 2 stitches and 2 times 1 stitch.
At a height of 66 (67/68) cm / 26 (26.5/27) in work the shoulder slopes as for the back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 39 (43/47) stitches and work 1 wrong-side row purl, then continue in the main pattern.
At the same time for shaping increase on both sides in every fourth row 26 times 1 stitch = 91 (95/99) stitches.
At a height of 47 cm / 18.5 in bind off all stitches.
Work the second sleeve in the same way.
Finishing:
Join the shoulder seams.
Work around the neckline 1 round single crochet and 1 round reverse single crochet (crab stitch).
Join the side seams and sleeve seams, set in the sleeves.
