Sweater with Leaf Stitch Pattern

Lace sweater – light and airy.
The leaf stitch pattern is interrupted by bands worked in Half Brioche Pattern.
How to knit the sweater with leaf stitch pattern:
Sizes: EU 40/42 (46/48) – UK 12/14 (18/20) – US 8/10 (14/16).
Materials:
650 (750) g yarn (50% cotton, 50% acrylic; 131 yd/1.76 oz). Needles size 2.5 mm (US 1.5) and 3.5 mm (US 4); circular needles size 2.5 mm (US 1.5), 16 inches long.

Ribbing Pattern, needles size 2.5 mm (US 1.5): alternately 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.
Leaf Stitch Pattern, needles size 3.5 mm (US 4):
Work according to the chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
Repeat Rows 1 through 24.
Half Brioche Pattern, needles size 3.5 mm (US 4):
Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, purl 1, * yarn over, purl 2 stitches together, repeat from *, edge stitch.
Row 2 (wrong side): edge stitch, knit 1, * purl the yarn over, knit 1, repeat from *, edge stitch.
Row 3: edge stitch, purl 1, * knit 1 from the row below (the stitch above is dropped), purl 1, repeat from *, edge stitch.
Row 4: edge stitch, knit 1, * purl 1, knit 1; repeat from *, edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4.

Gauge:
Leaf Stitch Pattern: 24 stitches x 33 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm).
Half Brioche Pattern: 24 stitches x 40 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm).


Back:
Cast on 102 (116) stitches and work 2.4 inches (6 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing evenly 20 (23) stitches in the last row = 122 (139) stitches.
Continue in Leaf Stitch Pattern, working Row 1 as follows: edge stitch, from the 9th to the 17th stitch of the pattern repeat, 6 (7) repeats, from the 1st to the 9th stitch of the pattern repeat, edge stitch.
* Work Leaf Stitch Pattern twice from Row 1 to Row 24, then work 16 (20) rows in Half Brioche Pattern, repeat from * 2 more times, finish with Half Brioche Pattern.
At the same time, for side shaping increase 1 stitch at each side every 12th row 8 times = 138 (155) stitches.
At a height of 24.2 (25 inches) [61.5 (63.5) cm], for neckline bind off the middle 30 (35) stitches, then at each side bind off every 2nd row 2 times 3 stitches and 1 time 2 stitches.
At the same time, for shoulder shaping bind off every 2nd row 4 times 9 stitches and 1 time 10 stitches (3 times 10 stitches and 2 times 11 stitches).
Front:
Work as for the back, but for neckline at a height of 22.6 (23.4 inches) [57.5 (59.5) cm] – after 48 rows of Leaf Stitch Pattern – bind off the middle 16 (21) stitches, then at each side bind off every 2nd row 2 times 3 stitches, 3 times 2 stitches and 3 times 1 stitch.
At a height of 24.2 (25 inches) [61.5 (63.5) cm] shape shoulders as for the back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 48 (52) stitches and work 2.4 inches (6 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing evenly 22 (23) stitches in the last row = 70 (75) stitches.
Continue in Leaf Stitch Pattern, working Row 1 as follows: edge stitch, 4 repeats, edge stitch (edge stitch, from the 7th to the 17th stitch of the pattern repeat, 3 repeats, from the 1st to the 11th stitch of the pattern repeat, edge stitch).
As for the back * work 48 rows in Leaf Stitch Pattern and 16 (20) rows in Half Brioche Pattern, repeat from * once more.
For sleeve shaping increase 1 stitch at each side every 4th row 31 times (33 times) = 132 (141) stitches.
At a height of 17 (17.7 inches) [43 (45) cm], bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Sew seams and set in sleeves.
Pick up 104 (114) stitches along the neckline with circular needles, work 1.6 inches (4 cm) in Ribbing Pattern and bind off in pattern.
