Sweater with Wavy Lace Stitch
How to knit the Kimono Sweater with Wavy Lace Stitch:
Sizes: US 6–10 (12–16) / UK 10–14 (16–20) / EU 36–40 (42–46)
Materials:
400 (450) g yarn (75% cotton, 25% viscose, 120 yd/1.76 oz); US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 8 (5 mm) knitting needles; US G-6 (4 mm) crochet hook.
Knotted Edge: Slip the first stitch of every row as if to knit, work the last stitch of every row as a knit stitch.
Work all pieces with a knotted edge.
Garter Stitch: Knit all stitches on right-side and wrong-side rows.
Wavy Lace Stitch:
Work according to the chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work stitches as they appear; purl the yarn overs.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and the stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the 10-stitch pattern repeat throughout, end with 1 stitch after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 1–14 throughout.
The cast-on edge naturally forms a scalloped edge because of the stitch pattern.
Gauge: 18 stitches and 26 rows = 4 × 4 in (10 × 10 cm).
Back with Half Sleeves:
Using US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, cast on 83 (93) stitches and work 3 rows = 3/8 in (1 cm) in garter stitch for the lower band, beginning with 1 wrong-side row worked with knit stitches.
Then continue with US 8 (5 mm) needles in the Wavy Lace Stitch.
After 5½ (6) in = 36 (40) rows from the lower band, cast on an additional 5 stitches at both sides for the sleeves, then in every 6th row cast on 5 stitches 7 times = 163 (173) stitches.
Incorporate the added stitches into the stitch pattern.
After 6¾ in = 44 rows from the first increase, continue straight.
After the sleeve height measures 7 (7½) in = 46 (50) rows, bind off 5 stitches at both sides for the sleeve and shoulder shaping, then in every 2nd row bind off 5 stitches 10 (5) times and 6 stitches 1 (6) times.
Bind off the remaining 41 stitches for the neck.
Front with Half Sleeves:
Work as for the back with half sleeves, but with a neckline.
To shape the neckline, at the same time as beginning the sleeve and shoulder shaping, bind off the center 41 stitches and complete each side separately.
Work the sleeve and shoulder shaping at the outer edge as for the back.
Finishing:
Sew the seams.
Crochet around the neckline with 1 round of single crochet, then 1 round of reverse single crochet (single crochet worked from left to right).
