Summer Tunic with Lace Pattern

How to knit the Tunic with Lace Pattern:  

Size: 38–40 (corresponds to US size 8–10, UK size 10–12)  

Material:  

500 g of yarn (100% cotton, 115 m/50 g); straight and circular needles size 3 mm (US 2½, UK 11).  

Lace Pattern A:  

Work according to Chart 1, which shows only right-side rows.  

On wrong-side rows, work stitches as they appear and purl all yarn overs.  

Repeat rows 1–16 for height.  

Lace Pattern B:  

Work according to Chart 2, which shows only right-side rows.  

On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.  

Repeat rows 1–16 for height.  

Gauge: 21 sts x 31.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.  

Cast on 123 sts and work 2 rows in purl stitch.  

Continue in Lace Pattern A, and for side shaping decrease 1 st on each side every 12th row 8 times (= 107 sts).  

Work 3 full repeats of 16 rows, then continue repeating only rows 1 and 2.  

At 43 cm from the cast-on edge, evenly decrease 8 sts in one row (omit 8 yarn overs in the last RS row) and continue in Lace Pattern B (= 99 sts).  

At 54 cm from the beginning, for the armholes bind off 6 sts on each side, then in every 2nd row bind off 2 sts once and 1 st 4 times.  

At 71 cm from the beginning, for the neckline bind off the center 23 sts and finish each side separately.  

To round the neckline, bind off from the inner edge every 2nd row 3 sts once and 2 sts once.  

At 74 cm from the beginning, bind off 21 shoulder sts.  

Front:  

Work as for the back, but for the neckline at 59 cm from the beginning, bind off the center 13 sts and finish each side separately.  

To round the neckline, bind off from the inner edge every 2nd row: 3 sts once, 2 sts twice, and 1 st 3 times.  

At 74 cm from the beginning, bind off 21 shoulder sts.  

Sleeve:  

Cast on 73 sts and work 2 rows in purl stitch.  

Continue in Lace Pattern A.  

After 10 rows, for sleeve cap shaping bind off 6 sts on each side, then in every 2nd row: 2 sts once, 1 st 3 times;  

in every 4th row: 1 st 6 times;  

in every 2nd row again: 1 st 6 times, 2 sts once, 3 sts once, and finally bind off remaining 17 sts.  

Work the second sleeve in the same way.  

Finishing:  

Sew shoulder seams.  

Pick up 176 sts along the neckline edge using circular needles and work 12 cm in Lace Pattern A, repeating only rows 1 and 2.  

Then work 4 rows in garter stitch and bind off all sts.  

Sew side seams and sleeve seams.
