V-Neck Sweater Knitting Pattern

How to knit the V-Neck Sweater:
Sizes: US 6/8 (14/16) 18/20
Finished chest measurement: approximately 37.75 (44.5) 49 in.
Materials:
550 (600) 650 g yarn (60% cotton, 40% acrylic, 142 yd/50 g); straight knitting needles US 2.5 and US 4; circular knitting needles US 2.5.

Garter Stitch, needles US 2.5: knit all stitches on right-side and wrong-side rows; in circular knitting, alternate 1 round knit and 1 round purl.
Fancy Stitch Pattern (main pattern), needles US 4: work with a multiple of 20 + 17 (17) 5 + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, or as indicated, purl the yarn overs.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and stitches from arrow A (A) B, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with stitches to arrow D (D) C and 1 edge stitch.
* Work Rows 1-6 4 times = 24 rows, work Rows 7-12 once, repeat Rows 13-18 4 times = 24 rows, work Rows 19-24 once, then repeat the 60 rows from * throughout.

Gauge: 22 stitches and 38 rows = 4 x 4 in. (10 x 10 cm).

Back:
Cast on 119 (139) 147 stitches and work 0.75 in. (2 cm) in Garter Stitch.
Continue working in the main pattern.
After 15.25 in. = 148 rows (15 in. = 144 rows) 14.5 in. = 140 rows from the border, bind off 11 (11) 10 stitches on both sides for the armholes = 97 (117) 127 stitches.
After 24.75 in. = 240 rows from the border, for the shoulder slopes bind off 6 (8) 9 stitches on both sides every 2nd row 4 times.
At the same time as the first shoulder decrease, bind off the center 29 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For neckline shaping, bind off 3 stitches once and 2 stitches once at the inner edge every 2nd row.
After 25.5 in. = 248 rows from the border, bind off the remaining 5 (7) 8 stitches of each shoulder.


Front:
Work as for the back, but with a V-neckline.
For this, after 19.25 in. = 186 rows from the border, bind off the center stitch and finish both sides separately.
For the neckline shaping, decrease 1 stitch at the inner edge 19 times alternately every 2nd and 4th row as follows: on the right side, knit the 3rd and 2nd stitches from the end together knitwise; on the left side, work the 2nd and 3rd stitches together through the back loop.

Sleeves:
Cast on 53 stitches for each sleeve and work 0.75 in. (2 cm) in Garter Stitch.
Continue in the main pattern, beginning with 1 edge stitch and stitches from arrow E, repeat the pattern repeat 2 times and end with stitches to arrow F and 1 edge stitch.
At the same time, for sleeve shaping increase on both sides from the border 1 stitch 9 times every 6th row and 1 stitch 18 times alternately every 4th and 6th row (1 stitch 28 times alternately every 4th and 6th row and once in the following 4th row) 1 stitch 14 times alternately every 4th and 6th row and 1 stitch 17 times every 4th row, incorporating the increased stitches into the pattern = 107 (111) 115 stitches.
After 17 in. = 164 rows (17 in. = 164 rows) 16 in. = 156 rows from the border, bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Join the shoulder seams.
Pick up 119 stitches around the neckline with circular needles, work 0.75 in. (2 cm) in Garter Stitch and bind off all stitches.
Join side and sleeve seams. Set in the sleeves.
