V-Neck Top with Leaf Pattern

How to knit the V-Neck Top:
Sizes: US 6/8 (10/12) 14/16, UK 10/12 (14/16) 18/20, EU 36/38 (40/42) 44/46

Materials:
650 (700) 750 g/22.9 (24.7) 26.5 ounces of yarn (50% cotton, 50% modal viscose fiber, 87 yards/1.76 ounces); US size 4 and 6 knitting needles; US size E-4 crochet hook.

Rib pattern, US size 4 knitting needles:
Right side rows: work alternately 1 knit through the back loop, 1 purl;
Wrong side rows: work alternately 1 knit, 1 purl through the back loop.

Stocking stitch, US size 6 knitting needles: right side rows – knit stitches, wrong side rows – purl stitches.

Leaf Pattern (over 54 stitches), US size 6 knitting needles:
Work according to the chart, which shows right side rows only.
On wrong side rows, work all stitches as they appear, work knit-through-the-back-loop stitches as purl-through-the-back-loop stitches, and work yarn overs as purl stitches.
Work the 27 stitches of the chart once (= center of the work), then complete the remainder symmetrically.
Work Rows 1 and 2 a total of 13 times, then work Rows 3 through 10 once, then repeat Rows 11 through 18 throughout.

Average gauge: 22.5 stitches and 28 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 centimeters).

Back:
Cast on 120 (130) 140 stitches and work 1.2 inches (3 centimeters) in rib pattern, working the center 54 stitches in the Leaf Pattern.
Then continue as follows: 1 edge stitch, 32 (37) 42 stitches in stocking stitch, 54 stitches in the Leaf Pattern, 32 (37) 42 stitches in stocking stitch, 1 edge stitch.

After 16.1 inches = 114 rows from the cast-on edge, increase 1 knit-through-the-back-loop stitch from the horizontal strand = 121 (131) 141 stitches.
For the slant of the pattern panel, after 16.3 inches = 116 rows from the cast-on edge, before the Leaf Pattern in every 4th row work 2 stitches together knit 15 times, and after the Leaf Pattern work 2 stitches together with a slip decrease (= slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit the next stitch and pass the slipped stitch over).
For every stitch decreased in this way before the first 27 stitches and after the last 27 stitches of the Leaf Pattern, increase 1 knit-through-the-back-loop stitch from the horizontal strand.
Work the increased stitches in stocking stitch.
After 24 inches = 170 rows from the cast-on edge, for the neckline bind off the center 31 stitches and work 6 rows in rib pattern.
After 24.8 inches = 176 rows from the cast-on edge, bind off all stitches in pattern.

Front:
Work as for the back, but with a V-neck.
To do this, after 16.1 inches from the cast-on edge do not increase the center stitch, but after 16.3 inches = 116 rows from the cast-on edge divide the work in the center and finish both sides separately.
For the V-neck shaping, work the decreases before and after the Leaf Pattern as described for the back.
Work the two purl stitches at the inner edge as edge stitches.
After 24.8 inches = 176 rows from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining 45 (50) 55 shoulder stitches.

Sleeves:
Cast on 95 (99) 103 stitches, work 3.5 inches = 26 rows in rib pattern and bind off all stitches in pattern.

Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
Work 1 round of crab stitch around the neckline (= single crochet worked from left to right).
Ease the sleeves slightly while sewing them into the armholes, then sew the side seams and sleeve seams.
