How to knit the Cable Pattern:
Work with a multiple of 36 stitches + 12 + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 50 stitches (36 + 12 + 2 edge stitches) and knit according to the chart.
The chart shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work stitches as they appear.
The pattern repeat is 36 stitches wide.
Begin with 1 edge stitch, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with 12 stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Abbreviation:
k: knit stitch
p: purl stitch
6-stitch left cable: slip 3 stitches to cable needle and hold in front, knit 3, then knit 3 from the cable needle.
6-stitch right cable: slip 3 stitches to cable needle and hold in back, knit 3, then knit 3 from the cable needle.
Written row-by-row instructions:
Rows 1 and 5 (right side): 1 edge stitch, * p3, k6, p3, k3, 6-stitch left cable, k6, 6-stitch left cable, k3 *; repeat from * to *; end with p3, k6, p3, 1 edge stitch.
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): work stitches as they appear.
