Checker Honeycomb Stitch Knitting Pattern
How to knit Checker Honeycomb Stitch:
Work with a multiple of 24 stitches + 4 + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 30 stitches (24 + 4 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.
The chart shows only Right Side rows.
On Wrong Side Rows, work the stitches as they appear. When working purl garter stitch, purl the stitches.
The pattern repeat = 24 stitches wide.
Begin with 1 edge stitch, work the pattern repeat throughout, end with 4 stitches after patt rep and 1 edge stitch.
Abbreviation:
p: Purl
2-st RT: skip 1 st, knit 2nd st before first st, without dropping from LH needle, knit the first st, drop both sts from LH needle
2-st LT: knit through the back loop 2nd st behind first st, without dropping from LH needle, knit the first st, drop both sts from LH needle
purl gst (1 st in purl garter stitch): purl in right side and wrong side rows
Written Instructions:
Rows 1, 5 and 9 (right side): edge stitch, * 2-st RT, 2-st LT, p1, purl gst6, p1, (2-st RT, 2-st LT) 3 times *; repeat from * to *; end with 2-st RT, 2-st LT, edge stitch.
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows: work the stitches as they appear. When working purl garter stitch, purl the stitches.
Rows 3, 7 and 11: edge stitch, * 2-st LT, 2-st RT, p1, purl gst6, p1, (2-st LT, 2-st RT) 3 times *; repeat from * to *; end with 2-st LT, 2-st RT, edge stitch.
Rows 13, 17 and 21: edge stitch, * (2-st RT, 2-st LT) 4 times, p1, purl gst6, p1 *; repeat from * to *; end with 2-st RT, 2-st LT, edge stitch.
Rows 15, 19 and 23: edge stitch, * (2-st LT, 2-st RT) 4 times, p1, purl gst6, p1 *; repeat from * to *; end with 2-st LT, 2-st RT, edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 1-24 throughout.
