Checker Stitch Knitting Pattern #64
How to knit the Checker Stitch:
Work with a multiple of 18 stitches + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 20 stitches (18 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to сhart.
The chart shows right-side rows and wrong-side rows.
The numbers at right edge of chart indicate right-side rows, and at left edge wrong-side rows.
Read right-side rows from right to left, wrong-side rows from left to right.
The pattern repeat = 18 stitches wide.
Repeat pattern between edge stitches throughout.
Abbreviation:
k: knit stitch
p: purl stitch
yo: yarn over
skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch

Row 1 (right side): 1 edge stitch, * (k1, p1) 4 times, k2, (yo, skpo) 4 times *; repeat from * to *; end with 1 edge stitch.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 (wrong side): 1 edge stitch, * p9, (k1, p1) 4 times, k1 *; repeat from * to *; end with 1 edge stitch.
