Fantasy Stitch Knitting Pattern

Work with a multiple of 21 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 24 stitches (21 + 1 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to сhart.

The chart shows only right-side rows.

On wrong-side rows, work stitches as they appear or as given in instructions; purl the yarn overs.

The pattern repeat is 21 stitches wide.

Begin with 1 edge stitch, work the pattern repeat throughout, end with 1 stitch after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.

k: Knit

p: Purl

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch 

1 brioche stitch (right-side rows: slip 1 stitch with yarn over as if to purl, wrong-side rows: purl the stitch together with the yarn over)

cross 1 brioche stitch and p1 to the right: slip 1 stitch onto a cable needle and hold at back of work, work 1 brioche stitch, then purl the stitch from the cable needle

cross 1 brioche stitch and p1 to the left: slip 1 brioche stitch onto a cable needle and hold in front of work, purl the next stitch, then work the stitch from the cable needle as a brioche stitch

cross 2 brioche stitches to the left: slip 1 brioche stitch onto a cable needle and hold in front of work, work 1 brioche stitch, then work the stitch from the cable needle as a brioche stitch

Row 1 (right side): 1 edge stitch, * k1, yo, skpo, p5, 1 brioche stitch, p4, 1 brioche stitch, p5, k2tog, yo *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, 1 edge stitch.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): work stitches as they appear or as given in instructions; purl the yarn overs.

Row 3: 1 edge stitch, * k2, yo, skpo, p4, 1 brioche stitch, p4, 1 brioche stitch, p4, k2tog, yo *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, 1 edge stitch.

Row 5: 1 edge stitch, * k3, yo, skpo, p3, 1 brioche stitch, p4, 1 brioche stitch, p3, k2tog, yo, k2 *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, 1 edge stitch.
