Lace Hexagon Knitting Pattern

Work with a multiple of 8 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 19 stitches (4 + 8 + 5 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side Rows.

On Wrong Side Rows, purl all stitches and the yarn overs.

The pattern repeat is 8 stitches wide.

Begin with 1 edge stitch and 4 stitches before the pattern repeat, work the pattern repeat throughout, end with 5 stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.

k: knit stitch

p: purl stitch

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch 

cdd (Central Double Decrease): slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch

Row 1, 3 and 5 (right side): edge stitch, k1, yo, skpo, k1, * k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, skpo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; k2, k2tog, yo, k1, edge stitch.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): Purl.

Row 7: edge stitch, k2, yo, skpo, * k1, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, skpo *; repeat from * to *; k1, k2tog, yo, k2, edge stitch.

Row 9: edge stitch, k3, yo, * cdd, yo, k5, yo *; repeat from * to *; cdd, yo, k3, edge stitch.

Row 11, 13 and 15: edge stitch, k2, k2tog, yo, * k1, yo, skpo, k3, k2tog, yo *; repeat from * to *; k1, yo, skpo, k2, edge stitch.

Row 17: edge stitch, k1, k2tog, yo, k1, * k2, yo, skpo, k1, k2tog, yo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; k2, yo, skpo, k1, edge stitch.

Row 19: edge stitch, k2tog, yo, k2, * k3, yo, cdd, yo, k2 *; repeat from * to *; k3, yo, skpo, edge stitch.

Repeat Rows 1-20 throughout.
