Lace Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit a Lace Stitch: 

Work with a multiple of 14 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 31 stitches (7 + 14 + 8 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only right-side rows.

On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and the yarn overs.

The pattern repeat is 14 stitches wide.

Begin with 1 edge stitch and 7 stitches before the pattern repeat, work the pattern repeat throughout, end with 8 stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.

k: knit stitch

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as one

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch

cdd (Central Double Decrease): slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch

Row 1 (right side): 1 edge stitch, skpo, k5, yo, * k1, yo, k5, cdd, k5, yo *; repeat from * to *; k1, yo, k5, k2tog, 1 edge stitch.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): Purl.

Row 3: 1 edge stitch, skpo, k4, yo, k1, * k2, yo, k4, cdd, k4, yo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; k2, yo, k4, k2tog, 1 edge stitch.

Row 5: 1 edge stitch, skpo, k3, yo, k1, k2tog, * yo, k2, yo, k3, cdd, k3, yo, k1, k2tog *; repeat from * to *; yo, k2, yo, k3, k2tog, 1 edge stitch.

 

Row 7: 1 edge stitch, skpo, k2, yo, k1, k2tog, yo, * k1, yo, skpo, k1, yo, k2, cdd, k2, yo, k1, k2tog, yo *; repeat from * to *; k1, yo, skpo, k1, yo, k2, k2tog, 1 edge stitch.

Row 9: 1 edge stitch, skpo, k1, yo, k1, k2tog, yo, k1, * (yo, skpo) twice, k1, yo, k1, cdd, k1, yo, k1, k2tog, yo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; (yo, skpo) twice, k1, yo, k1, k2tog, 1 edge stitch.

Row 11: 1 edge stitch, skpo, yo, k1, (k2tog, yo) twice, * k1, (yo, skpo) twice, k1, yo, cdd, yo, k1, (k2tog, yo) twice *; repeat from * to *; k1, (yo, skpo) twice, k1, yo, k2tog, 1 edge stitch.

Repeat rows 1-12 throughout.
