Lace Stitch Knitting Pattern

Work with a multiple of 20 stitches + 3 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 25 stitches (1 + 20 + 2 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only right-side rows.

On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and the yarn overs.

The pattern repeat is 20 stitches wide.

Begin with 1 edge stitch and 1 stitch before the pattern repeat, work the pattern repeat throughout, end with 2 stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.

k: knit stitch

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as one

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch

cdd (Central Double Decrease): slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch

Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, k1, * k1, yo, k8, cdd, k8, yo *; repeat from * to *; k2, edge stitch.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): Purl.

Row 3: edge stitch, k1, * k2, yo, k7, cdd, k7, yo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; k2, edge stitch.

Row 5: edge stitch, k1, * k3, yo, k6, cdd, k6, yo, k2 *; repeat from * to *; k2, edge stitch.

Row 7: edge stitch, k1, * yo, skpo, k2, yo, k5, cdd, k5, yo, k3 *; repeat from * to *; yo, skpo, edge stitch.

Row 9: edge stitch, yo, * cdd, yo, k3, yo, k4, cdd, k4, yo, k3, yo *; repeat from * to *; cdd, yo, edge stitch.
