Lace Stitch Knitting Pattern

Work with a multiple of 17 stitches + 2 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 21 stitches (17 + 2 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side Rows.

On Wrong Side Rows, work stitches as they appear; purl the yarn overs. 

The pattern repeat is 17 stitches wide.

Begin with 1 edge stitch, work the pattern repeat throughout, end with 2 stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.

k: Knit

p: Purl

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch 

cdd (Central Double Decrease): slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch

Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, * k2, yo, skpo, k1, yo, skpo, p5, k2tog, yo, k1, k2tog, yo *; repeat from * to *; end with k2, edge stitch.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): work stitches as they appear on this side of work; purl the yarn overs.

Row 3: edge stitch, * k3, yo, skpo, k1, yo, skpo, p3, k2tog, yo, k1, k2tog, yo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; end with k2, edge stitch.

Row 5: edge stitch, * k4, yo, skpo, k1, yo, skpo, p1, k2tog, yo, k1, k2tog, yo, k2 *; repeat from * to *; end with k2, edge stitch.

Row 7: edge stitch, * k5, yo, skpo, k1, yo, cdd, yo, k1, k2tog, yo, k3 *; repeat from * to *; end with k2, edge stitch.

Row 9: edge stitch, * k6, yo, skpo, k3, k2tog, yo, k4 *; repeat from * to *; end with k2, edge stitch.
